it's an early release it will have sound in the future. mario kart runs full speed? wtf without the new core? great so it will run fs with sound with the new core XD great

Since the SNES nearly has the same resolution as the GP32, it's not needed ;)

but FS1 at 133 would be pretty schweet - between oc'ing and FLU it tends to tear through the rechargeable batteries (as they have shorter life than the non-rechargeables)

hope we get to test out this bad boy soon! esp. if what you say about mario kart is true.. (man, imagine if they could link it up with the RF..)
 
I have yet to use a anykind of SNES emulator for the GP32 as I sold mine way back, but plan on getting another one to hold me off till the PSP comes out, but what gets me is the lack of buttons, how is this gonna work for games that use all 6 buttons?
 
He'll probably configure like snes9xgp, where if you press select, you can go to button mapping to and press the two buttons that don't fit (for me L & R).

What? but that still leaves you short of buttons, cause I'm looking forward to this for street fighter 2, but um... that requires 6 buttons, and I'm sure theres lots of games on the SNES that require all 6 buttons which then will make them unplayable, I dont see the GP32's control layout working to good for an SNES emulator.

EDIT: oh yeah, why doesnt he just map start and select as the two odd ball buttons, and just double push like the shoulder buttons or something to pause, cause you think about it, lots of games require 6 buttons, but two buttons out of them are rarely used.

does this mean that there are some *small* black borders around the screen? Its just that my eyesight is not too sharp and the bigger, the better.....

I knew this day would come.. and it came sooner than I thought! :D Yoyo you are my god! (but then again, you already were ever since LittleJohn ;))

I'm hoping this'll be out before christmas - Speedy Mario Kart on the GP32 would be a great christmas gift :)

And unlike previous SNES emulators, this one will be open-source! With an ASM core to boot! Double Yay! My GP32's been lyin around untouched for some time now, but I bet I'll dust it off when OpenSNES9x is out! :lol:

EDIT: Oh, and I'm not sure how fast my GP32 can OC to at the most, it used to run at 166 when my GP32 was new, but now it crashes regardless of batteries (fresh or used).. nowadays it only seems to run 155MHz, until either batteries become half-used or the GP32 gets hot. Knowing Yoyo, however, I bet each new release will improve on the speed, just like LittleJohn.. I have every faith in you and your fellow team coders that this project will be among the best of emulators! :)
 
Hey, thanks for working so hard on this project. I've got a question for the authors, ho fast can it potentially become when the asm core is finished?
I know it will take a long time and i'm not pushing you but I just wanna know what to expect from the emu over time
BTW, do I understand correctly that at 133 mhz most games run at 100 % with frameskip 1 without sound. So, how fast does it go at 166 mhz (i'm one of the lucky few who can OC to 166).

What I'd like is being able to 100% configure the keys through some txt file... Like being able to do

A = A
B = B
Release L = X if held less than 0.5 sec, and L if held for more than 0.5 sec
Release R = Y if held less than 0.5 sec, and R if held for more than 0.5 sec
Select = Select
Start = Start
A+B+Start+Select = Menu
 
Okay, some more infos:

I double checked Mario Kart again (since I only tested it a short while in Time Trial mode).

Time Trial runs about 98% fullspeed using 166MHz and fs 2-3
It runs about 95% fullspeed using 133MHz and fs 4

The GP Circuit runs about 93% fullspeed using 166MHz and fs 4
It runs about 93% fullspeed using 133MHz and fs 5

This may seem slow - but I had a lot of fun playing it (that's why I thought
it's fullspeed earlier)

It has no graphical glitches and the game still runs smooth enough to play at fs 5. It gets pretty choppy at fs 6, but you won't need that :)

About the button config:

You have two different completely configurable button configurations and you can switch between the two using the select button.
This may sound strange but it's actually pretty easy to play games with :)
e.g. if you have a game which uses all buttons, usually at least two buttons aren't used so often (for opening a map, a menu, etc.). So you can put these two buttons on config 2 A and B buttons and press select to switch.
Actually, very good solution!

As this is a first version, the configuration is not savable nor does it feature a database for the roms (at least not the beta I have - but, who knows, yoyofr surprised us quite a few times with LJGP, he may put that in before release, but don't count on it!)
 
would be cool if the snes emu would be integrated in LittleJohn... dont want to reboot my gp32 so often :D
 
It is amazing how many people thought it would be a system with less than 8 bits. I don't know of a single system that has less than 8 bits. Anyone else know of any?

8 bit = 256 possible characters
4 bit = 16 possible characters (4 bit was mentioned :D )

Which just sjows how unlikely a system with less than 8 bits is
 
i think the only 4 bit processor ever developed for computing reasons was the intel 4044 back in the early 1970s.
