Yes that's right, you can not finish Monkey Island 1 with the current version of gpScummVM, ScummVM GP32 or whatever it's called. At least I think you can't.

Background: You have to break the iron bars in the jail on Meleê Island to let the guy escape with the mug full of grog. You have to move the pointer VERY quick because time is running, it does not excause any wasted second. And thats the problem, you can't control the pointer this quick, so there's a timeout before you can reach the jail. That also means you can't finish the game after all.

Oh dear.

I guess the only solution is to download Scummvm for PC, load up your savegame, get past that bit, save, and reload on GP.

The save files should work on both.

lol, i thought of that problem couple days ago when playing monkey island 2. i remembered it was very fast but didn't think you couldn't complete it with a joystick. oh well. guess you really have to upload it to the pc, play past it and upload it back to the gp32. besides that monkey island rocks on the gp32! :D

I just completed that part without a problem on the first try... so no problem here..

actually it IS possible, I did it a couple of days ago. It osn't a cursor speed problem ITS A PUZZLE!!!

All you need to do is...well that would be telling. But you CAN do it, for sure.

[edit - funny how you can pick up more than one mug isn't it....?]

Ahhh.. My bad, I thought he meant he couldn't *ahem - spoiler* quick enough (Cursor speed issue).

[edit] What Cool games Monkey 1&2 were. Far funnier than the sequels and brilliant music. Wouldn't it be good if they remade them with Hi-Res/True colour artwork? :)

Most definitely. But they so won't - adventure games don't sell amazingly well at the moment, I'm told :(

I love all the LucasArts games. Great stuff.

Annoyed they cancelled Sam and Max 2 though :(
