Will the GP32 every reach europe or the Americas?

Much better chance for Europe than the Americas, anyway. ;)

It was supposed to be released in the U.K. this past Christmass, but the distributor broke the contract.

(Fingers crossed for late 2003)

I saw a few different news articles that said they were looking to Canada as a test market.

probably not since it doesnt even sell well in korea.

they would probably bring here to japan first since the gamemarket is so high (even for indies)

I think the big, fat 'N' will stop it from reaching the states. In some ways, it's nice to be part of an underground platform... takes me back to the early days of computers.... aaaahhh the nostalgia :D

GP32 will not be undeground ;)
It will be if I take one caving with me! ;)
I'll need a back-lighted version first though, I reckon!

Wonder if GP'll do a waterproof version..? :D

heh, the gp32 sells ok in korea! But yeh I heard they were considering doing a canada release, but the best place to release it is in Japan due to the huge game market there! Only problem with that is it is playing on the ninty home turf........

Nintendo are much more concerned with the copier for the GBA, yet they have failed to stop it. Even though it is made for their own device. I doubt they can stop the GP32, the emulators are after all not even made by the creators of the GP32.

What does it take to be a distributor?

Maybe some of us here in the states can pool some cash together. I've got 38 cents right here!

gp32 in korea isnt doing well. some people bought them and then thought they were junk. MOST people i talked to in korea (even at game stores) had no idea what it was. and if they did.. didnt like it at all.. in fact.. thats why i got mine for less than 100$ actually (all of them are cheap now)... I bought a used one for like around 60$ for my friend too. looks perfect and in box with plastic.

because of the history with Japan and korea i doubt that the GP32 will ever come here to japan. many japanese dont want anything korean made and vice versa. even if it made it's way here.. i doubt anyone would buy.

sounds stupid.. but its really true.

You're right but it's not only the korean stuff that is ignored in Japan. The japanese in general just tend to ignore foreign electronics (just look at XBOX :p ).

I also think that for a console to succesfully penetrate a foreign territory it needs mass public acceptance. And the public only want those consoles that have software titles they already know (FIFA, Harry Potter, Crash, you name them) this in turn means that GP32 should first get developers like Eidos, EA, Namco, Capcom etc. onboard. Otherwise the only people buying it will be the early adaptors and .....us. And these people will just as well get it from Hong-Kong, Japan or Korea.

You only have to look at the NeoGeo pocket to see what changes a portable console other than GBA has.
