Just to update anyone interested. I played a few movies and took the battery level to about 1/3. Charged fully with the new cable without problem. I tried a usb pen drive on the new cable with a female-to-female adapter but it wouldn't see it. Yet when I connect the cable to a Windows computer...
When I connect it the Caanoo flashes up there's usb connected and my Windows pc sees something but no drivers though. It seems to behave just like the cable I got with it. When I switch the Caanoo off the red LED on the left of the device stays on presumably to indicate charging. I'll leave it...

Got a reply from Gameseek (email system is still playing up). The pic on there was wrong and they are changing it. They said the gender changer with a male to male usb cable should work though. I've ordered one and will post here the results..

I can get to the menu and virtual keyboard through I and II, after messing around I can now reset to a Sinclair BASIC prompt but can't get any TAP to load. How does one type LOAD "" on the virtual keyboard? L gives me LET as per Sinclair's funky way of inputting.. Help! :)
Does anyone know what the connector is on the Caanoo end of the usb charger cable? I'd like to make up a smaller cable that's easier to carry around when I'm travelling lite.
TIA
