If you are willing to pay a little more, the Raon Digital Everun Note will be available very shortly and will easily overtake the Pandora and every other handheld/"hip-top" computer out there. It has a 1.2GHz AMD dual core processor that is downclocked when not on AC power, but as soon as it...
What about MegaCD support? There were a couple of really nice gems for the CD and since 32X is supported, why not go the whole 10 yards? The Pandora can clearly handle it, so is there any chance of that happening? It would also make a CD/DVD drive docking station even more attractive. ^_^
Yes, the Atom based MIDs are expensive, but the Atom is new. By the time a Pandora KE would be designed and ready to go, the Atom price will have already dropped. And the battery life is also something that will increase quite rapidly. The Atom is like the most efficient computing platform...
That's basically what this thread is about. A docking station for the Pandora that would add extra functionality that could not be included in the handheld device.
The issue with something like this is the Pandora moves out of GamingMID to full blown MID. It may be nice, and it may do well, but soon (and I mean VERY soon) this is a market that will soon be completely liquidated as computer parts become smaller and cheaper. Things like the Sony Experia X1...
So anyone have any idea how likely something like this would be? A dock with a CD/DVD drive would make it a 200% chance of me buying it. I'll might still buy it without it, but it would make it exponentially more attractive if I had the option of it. Obviously, it would be an add-on sold...
Well, I wouldn't want it included. That would jack the price waaayy up. I would want it sold separately, so the option would be there, but it wouldn't be a requirement. That's why I like my idea since it doesn't include anything especially necessary or anything that couldn't be implemented...
An ideal (and not TOO complicated docking station) would include 4 more USB ports, ethernet, DVD/CD drive (for playing CD based games from the actual CD) and, of course, it would charge the Pandora.
