RockBox is actively being converted to an application... that said it could probably handle suspending/resuming daemons and other things in order to increase power efficiency I doubt 100hours though with the screen on as ED said the screen...
For decent FPGAs look toward the Xilinx spartan6 line .... built in ddr2 and 3 and 6 input LUTS iirc they have some fairly large parts supported in teh free tools as well....
@Exophase I believe larrabee was around 1 TFlop (I haven't seen any numbers higher than that) while GPUs are already pushing 5Tflops and are also becoming more genericThat was why I liked AMDs idea of improving integer performance on the CPU and leaning on the GPU for raw fpu power.... I mean it...
Well we have multicore ARM processors that will take over the netbook market and personally I think AMD's bulldozer may turn the tides toward AMD for a spell... especially if Intel actually trys to ship larabee which is a terrible design as it underproforms in all cases while AMD will have...
If there is any change for V2 I would hope it would be that production is full time as in no "batches" since for people that have the money to buy one I can see a 7 month wait is a major bummer which I think is completely ridiculous anyway sure 2 months break would be fine but 7 months!?

No it is normalized to a P 90 meaning that the P 90 score for every thing is 1 greater than 1 is faster less than is slower for example a score of .5 would be half as fast as a P 90
The same goes for the K6/233 normalized results
This is just a guess on my part but sound in games might be a...
Atually I realised the bottleneck was the ram.. but that doesn't mean it was a cost cutting measure you see RDRAM is expensive (perhaps it wasn't at the time though I doubt that since my friend paid a pretty penny for it in his PII system back around that same time) RDRAM was ill engineered...
Bochs is just a plain c code emu (and slow even on x86 desktops) that works on nearly any arch qemu has more optimisations although its still pretty slow on x86 if you don't have the kernel module loaded
