    i did my dpad mod on a mk1, so the casing may be slightly different,but i dont remember having to cut out much of the case on the inside related to mounts etc. i would recommend cutting your dpad shape out of the case first though, i did this and found everything followed on quite easily...

    at a guess i would say less than 10mm diameter. do you have a maplins next to you? they sometimes have more choice in-store. good to hear you survived exams.

    each part no. relates to a different height button (the centre bit). you'll probably want the smallest. These switches have very little travel (0.25mm, as they are designed to have a button on a outer shell to push them) so may cause a problem, how about this one push switch.
