    Even if a part of VLC is derived from MPlayer, the fact of being codec-less is a key feature for a hand-held console like GP2X... VLC can read MPEG1/2, DIVX (1/2/3), MPEG-4, DivX 5, XviD, 3ivX D4, Sorenson 1/3 (Quicktime), H.264, Theora, WMV1/2 and more! MPlayer is almost useless without codecs...
