I was told to cycle the battery so I unplugged it from the USB and turned it on first thing this morning and had it play an xvid over and over on full brightness (I didn't want to burn the screen with a stationary image). It lasted 9 hours and 4 minutes on it's first cycle. Recharging now. I...
I guess it depends on the store. I picked ours up today and it works fine so far. It was even pre-charged to near full. It is in the old case with a new sticker added from the person who rebuilt it. They must be independently owned franchises instead of corporate owned.
I pulled it back out...
I imagine they needed the old battery for it's case and are sending it to someone who's just going to put a new Lipo cell pack inside of it. So yes I would think it would still charge in the same way but just take longer.
We are supposed to pick up a 4100maH Lipo battery Tuesday from Batteries Plus that has been modified to fit in the Wiz. With the modifications we were told the battery would be $41 plus sales tax. They needed our old battery to make it work.
BTW the middle lead on the battery is the sense...
They can get that 4100mAH battery for $20.95 I was told. One would have to wire it to the outside leads in the battery compartment or feed the wires inside to the pcb and solder.
I have the local Batteries Plus store looking into finding one/or compatible for me in the US.
The one that went bad that came in the wiz is made by KAYO:

It is their part # KPLS574172
They say they can find or get anything. I'll let people know any info when...
The battery in my son's Wiz has stopped charging. It shows as 3.72 volts but is really dead under load. I can swap the battery in the other Wiz to it or power it up with no problem off the USB cable. My question is this:
There are three terminals on the battery pack .. a ground .. a sense...
Don't give up your work for nothing or even a tiny shareware fee. Offering a limited Wiz demo version though would help sales. You know like being able to play one level only.
Thanks for developing RPG's for the Wiz .. my bipolar son loves those most of all.
The only thing I can figure is they added a software correction like they did in the blackberries, PS3 slim, etc but the processor was new enough it didn't need it. Thus it got forwarded a day when it wasn't necessary. Running 1.2.1 firmware.
I noticed today the Wiz had the date as 2010/3/3 instead of 2010/3/2 .. I wonder if this is in any way related to the problem Sony had on the PS3 with their ARM processor. Dunno .. corrected the date. Anyone else had this happen ?
I understand believe me. Even converting things to avi for the wiz you have to be careful about the frame size and bitrates. The only thing we hate about the mkv format is that it usually contains alot more "stuff" than people want in a certain region. Of course that is why it was created...
Congratulations both on getting it running. It's a must for the Wiz. We recently got all the ROM's and Sound sample files (40+ Gigabytes). Now the kids keep wanting something else on it as they all won't fit. We need a 64GB SDHC card :P
