    Heat Spreader Performance and Overclocking

Functionally yeah it's possible, I actually had to hack back in a 500Mhz mode that was disabled in mainline for some reason. The allowed clock speeds are defined in the Pyra's Device Tree Source, you would need to modify it and then compile a .dtb to boot with. It's not elegant like the Pandora...

What is your Reason you want this Thing?

To mainly make my geek friends jealous of my obscure quirky device that can do cool things.

    The Future of Pyra's CPU

I think he means using the whole compute module, yes it would be bigger than the Pyra CPU board... still it would likely need an entirely new main board to work.

    Raspian

yeah you would need to at the very least get the Pyra's letux kernel shoed into the raspbian image, but even then raspbian has some very hardware specific changes in the rootfs. it's likely easier to just install the raspbian version of this program on our version of debain.

Brief Answers to the Big (Pyra) Questions

Yeah like the others said, sure there is only one SGX die as it were as it's literally built into the SoC of the OMAP5, but there are two GPU cores on the OMAP5 configuration of the SGX. The vita has the SGX543mp4 variant, we have the SGX544MP2 in the OMAP5...

Brief Answers to the Big (Pyra) Questions

Well the PS Vita is running a different variant of the same generation of the Power VR SGX the Pyra is using.

    Samba share mount not working

Last time, and I mean long time ago I think I had success with using sec=ntlm and not the ntlmv2. Now a days I mount via sshfs, so it's been a while.

    The Future of Pyra's CPU

I'm not sure why the Heat spreader tape is a concern, likely a new CPU would need a different solution, just a case of applying it when swapping over. It may not necassarily be the case that we have to recompile everything with a new CPU, but it's kind of a non-issue as everything is opensource...

It reminds me of the Pandora!

I don't think anyone has said there wasn't a need, just said it's too early since we haven't played with the current CPU. Not sure, but like I literally said in my prior post he said he had enough to fulfill all the current orders and plenty for additional orders.

It reminds me of the Pandora!

Umm yeah, this has been known for several years now. EvilDragon has more than enough of them to fulfill all the orders and then some.

It reminds me of the Pandora!

Don't really foresee that happening any time soon, the only mission critical proprietary driver is the the SGX 3D driver, the kernel driver is open which can and has been modified to work with newer kernel versions. There is a binary blob of course, but it's just strung along.

What are you playing this weekend/these days?

Honestly I thought Shadow of the Tomb Raider had less of that than the first game, but it's been a long time since I played the first.. Actually still need to finish this to play the third. I really enjoy that these were ported to Linux.

Brief Answers to the Big (Pyra) Questions

Libreoffice is now installed by default on debian distributions, which is the base of Pyra OS. Same with printer services, most printers work out of the box, but there are a few companies that still hold tight to proprietary drivers. Video streaming is a tough to say at this point, last I knew...
