142m² assembly space
Just some tiny news inbetween, but some very important ones :D
Finally, I have found new rooms to rent which will be used to assemble the Pyra (and other products like Retrodes, ColUSB, MegaDrive and SNES games, etc.).
It wasn't easy finding one that is big and not too...
Quite a few members have asked for a newspost with up-to-date information about the assembly, speed improvements as well as estimations how things will continue.
This will probably be a longer post, so grab some tea or coffee and enjoy the read.
Why has assembly been so slow until now?
This is a small bounty - but it also shouldn't be too much work.
Basically, I'd like to improve the volume wheel daemon aTc wrote so that it uses less power and gives some more improvements.
At the moment, it regularly polls the status of the volume wheel and changes the ALSA hardware volume...
The Pyra has some not-so-easy things that need fixing - and I'd like to offer bounties for those!
The audio driver is part of that.
What's the issue with audio on the Pyra?
At the moment, we're using a very basic audio driver, which causes quite a few problems.
* I provides ONE audio device...
It's been ages since I found the time to visit here - so I just wanted to tell everyone here that I'm still alive and working through a heap pile of stuff.
I'll try to change that and hopefully will find more time to reply to any questions here.
Pyra's are still slowly shipping, my wife...
Some might've wondered why not all units I planned to ship until yesterday have shipped yet - and some followed IRC or our Discord channel and could imagine what the reason was.
During assembly, I noticed that about 10% of the units didn't want to boot up after they had been powered down.
This is a quick information about the currently state of issues (software). I'll update this page when new things will be reported, so keep an eye out here :)
Hopefully, we'll find some more devs who will help improve everything in the future. At the moment, the Pyra is not really usable for...
Assembling and shipping units has started.
But what if you preordered and didn't receive an email yet?
This is what this sticky is for. If you think you should've received your email already but didn't, please send me a PM, an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or contact me on IRC on Discord.
I know most of you noticed already - but the first emails to place the final order of the Pyra has been sent to the first 25 preorders, more will follow as we continue the assembly.
I concentrated on preassembling as many units as possible, so I didn't visit the boards and didn't read any...
Once again, the last update seems so long ago - and while I posted small updates in between in the thread, I think it's definitely time to post another update!
So here's what's happened.
1. The case and the scratches
We had a few quality issues with the coating on the cases we received which...
Whewwww, quite a while since I found the time to post something here - so sorry about that!
It's been pretty hectic and stressful times, a lot of organizational work is happening in the background (not only Pyra-related, as I also need to take care enough cash flows into our company as well...
While the hardware is finished and we're only waiting for the arrival of some stuff, we have awesome news regarding the Pyra lowlevel stuff!
3D in combination with TILER works now!
According to ptitSeb (who created the video), it runs a lot smoother in real life, but the camera had some...
As you all know, the forum currently uses Tapatalk for mobile clients.
While this has some advantages (it's free, users can use Tapatalk for multiple boards at once, etc.), it also has its downsides (annoying Tapatalk requester for normal users, etc.)
There is a possibility that we can us our...
I hope you're all doing fine and healthy during these weird time in our lives.
Unfortunately, Corona has hit the Pyra as well, but we're still moving forward.
I've been extremely busy taking care of the shop. Adding new features (like a "pay what you like"-section), doing marketing, adding new...
OneNetbook is also working on a handheld gaming device - and here are the first renderings:
It is planned to be released in the middle of the year and they're already testing pre-production samples. I do hope they will change the DPad, as the space between the buttons seems to be too big...
Yep. No one expects the spanish inquisit.... eeerrm, I mean a news post.
It's been too long that I did make a proper update post so most of you have probably forgotten that I even exist :D
But, well, there are reasons for that.
First of, my employee in the shop is ill now for more than 8 weeks...
Welcome to this information section.
This section is primarily meant for the prototype preorderers to get some information about the unit they just received, but it also gathers the information about where to post bug reports and feature requests.
It will be updated regularly.
1. Known issues...
This time, I'm just giving a quick text update again.
No video for two reasons:
1. I'm seriously lacking time (which is also why I didn't post an update earlier)
2. I don't have anything new to show right now
If you followed my various posts here on the boards, you probably know a bit of the...
