    Game Idea, Need Photographers

I suppose since this got blogged I've suddenly got a lot more attention. Just in case anyone was worried, this project is still very much alive, I'm just very much busy with school (being a college student tends to get in the way of my "writing awesome games" time :P ) More info to come.

    Game Idea, Need Photographers

There are no bad subjects if I can find somebody sufficiently clever to do storylines for me. Ideally I'd like to do nothing other than code (maybe music), as I have no other relevant skills :P

    Game Idea, Need Photographers

Did some camera experiments today to see how realistic this is with images I don't get by searching google for "super high-resolution royalty free creative commons pictures" :P. Some thoughts: 1) Images interpolate up acceptably well to about 10x pixels (about 3x in each dimension). Here...

Raws always need some fixing, they're still better than lossy-compressed jpegs though :)

3:2??? Grr. Well, the game will probably have to have a consistent aspect ratio just for sanity sake, and 4:3 crops of 3:2 are a bit less damaging than 5:3 crops of either. A super-basic web demo of zooming and enhancing is at http://codu.org/projects/zee/test/

P.S. I like the idea of releasing episodes one-at-a-time ... probably more humanly-achievable too :P

Zooming will all use mipmaps. Which is to say, it will work as such: There are N zoom levels, probably 5, for a maximum zoom of 2^5 = 32. Each zoom level is split into the appropriate number of 640x480 tiles for ease of loading (I think it's wise to stick with 4:3 for the sake of not having to...

    Game Idea, Need Photographers

Having a storyboard and making particular requests would be great if there's an imbalance with many photographers and few designers, but I feel that it's an unrealistic strategy in the far-more-realistic scenario of "oh *whew* I managed to find two photographers willing to help me out" :P

    Game Idea, Need Photographers

I have a game idea that's been rattling 'round in my brain for years (I've even partially implemented it), and I think the Pandora would be a good platform for it (touchscreen, lots of space, etc). The name of the game is ZEE, short for Zoom-Enhance-Extrapolate. It's a parody of those...

    Eversion Port

Depends on whether by "WINE" he means "I write Windows-only software because I'm not aware of any other platform but some guy emailed me and told me it runs in this 'wine' thing whatever that is" or he means "I'm a Windoze fanboy who knows no other APIs but I managed to compile it in winelib."...

    Pandora Worst Case Scenario Nightmare

This is your worst case? Seriously? Real worst case: One day, the first 400 Pandoras are received by extremely happy Pandora enthusiasts. They all open their newly prized possessions AND FOUR HUNDRED TIMES ALL THE EVILS IN THE WORLD ARE RELEASED, INSTANTLY DESTROYING THE SOLAR SYSTEM. The...

    Mutitouch?

From that link you posted, the "multitouch" "simulation" (yes, I'm putting both of those words in quotes) is about as powerful as I'd expect it to be on a resistive touchscreen ... specifically, completely and utterly worthless. If you keep one finger stationary and move the other, it can guess...

    Video Glasses

The Myvu Crystal has the same resolution and is a bit less gaudy, and if I know my exchange rates it's a bit less expensive. Although it doesn't provide stereoscopy. Since the Pandora doesn't either, that's probably irrelevant. The Myvu Crystal can also be modified into a nice one-eye display...

PandAura you say? (Not as goodstupid as the last one, but *eh* :P )

    Rainbow Panda

The topic of this thread gave me a great idea for a background image.

    Rainbow Panda

Perhaps a strange question, but why is the rainbow viewed by somebody who's blue-green colorblind?

    Qwak On Pandora?

I can't believe nobody's mentioned this yet, so sorry if this sounds offensive, I love the typo in the poll, how the options are "Yes" and "Now". Which presumably mean "YES, I would buy this when it comes out" or "I want to throw money at you NOW, I don't want to wait for it!"

    Stylus: Black Or Chrome

I lost mine on the very first day I had my GP2X :( (And I'll mention this again: Please no chrome-plated metal, I like my skin and want it to remain on my hands :( ... but that really only applies to me :P)

How Hard Is It To Make A Game If I Have Never Programmed?

A bit blunt, but ... I'm a CS graduate student. I've seen plenty of years of first-year CS students. All have one thing in common: Many of them want to program because they want to write games, and those who do almost always drop out within in the first year. Programming games is not easy, not...

    Stylus: Black Or Chrome

Would the "chrome" one actually be made of chrome, or just chrome colored? Would the black one be made of chrome that had just been painted, or plastic? I'm allergic to chrome, so if it's chrome (as such things are prone to be) I'll just have to use something else. Not that that should affect...
