Trying to find a fair solution

We are entitled to a pandora- that's because we bought it.  No one said we were entitled for one from Ed.  We should get one from Craig, and that is who is to blame. But it's hardly idiotic to pay for something, and then expect to receive that which you paid for.

What option would you take to resolve the preorder queue?

After having several kids, earning my doctorate, making an international move for research reasons, I can't afford any of these options.  I had a real use for the pandora when I ordered it, but now I don't really have a use for it.  I eventually bought another handheld system for one of my kids...

Trying to find a fair solution

Exactly.  So since I'm in North America, according to the official pandora ordering instructions, I was supposed to order through the store I did.  Also, you can't tell that there are only 2 companies.  Either there is one with 4 geographic distribution points, or there are four businesses. ...

Trying to find a fair solution

Maybe you should go read my post above showing what the order page in 2008 looked like.

Trying to find a fair solution

Also, not that it's any of your damn business, I requested a refund- and I know I'll never see that money.  So you're welcome for supporting the pandora from day 1 (allowing it to get funding) and knowing I'll never get anything in return.

Because it's my job to inform random strangers of legal actions I'm taking?

Trying to find a fair solution

And just so people can actually see (without the styles), here's the page from Dec. 2008 from archive.org. http://web.archive.org/web/20081204060820/http://www.openpandora.org/ Go down to the sept/oct. news.  The website lists the areas and where you should order from.  So the site makes it...

Trying to find a fair solution

Two things.  Neither shop is ON the pandora site.  There was a very clear ordering distinction at the beginning, e.g., "if you are in north america, order from here".  However, this was not clear that each store was a different company.  I thought they were simply different store fronts setup...

Yeah, it was a joke.  Maybe I should have added a smiley.

Trying to find a fair solution

That was clear to me too once these forums existed, but it is only clear on the forums.  I don't think it's bad to have a single forum for the device, but the website should make the company distinction.  Although maybe that's not needed anymore since Ed's is essentially the only company now.

Trying to find a fair solution

Again, where's the talk about reduced refunds?  Other or used devices?  Surely these are cheaper options than funding for a new pandora. And to address the "where are all the preorderers?" question.  Many, like myself, don't visit very often because it's hard to say anything without 100 people...

Trying to find a fair solution

Can we all just agree that the current Pandora isn't financed by preorders OR the re-investments for the rebirth edition?  Both were capital to begin production, and it essentially took those two rounds to get everything going.  ALL of that money is gone.  The current pandora is financed by...

Trying to find a fair solution

Although I agree with everything else you said, I do take issue to some degree with your last statement and tone.  Without the original preorderers, all the R&D and CC stuff would have never happened.  The investors were able to restart production because all the designs had been worked out...

Trying to find a fair solution

I'd be happy with almost any system replacement.  Better to get something than nothing!  That's something I mentioned when I took the survey that no one seemed to care about.  I'd gladly accept a $100 refund and call the other $300 a donation to the community. Give me a gp2x- at this point I...

Trying to find a fair solution

No offense to the other commenters, but I occasionally feel that these discussions are hard to have when people who are not in Craig's queue are commenting.  If you haven't waited 5 years, then you probably shouldn't tell others how to feel about it.  I don't have the money, and I've personally...

    Stats of upgrades

But it's not a moot point because I'm now in a category that I wouldn't be in.  I answered the survey based on what I wanted and not what I was willing to do even if I was unhappy about it.  For the record, I'm a second day preorderer from 2008 who had to give up about 3 holidays (BD, Christmas...

    Stats of upgrades

I'm also a bit confused about the survey.  I thought it was a "survey"!  Not a final choice.  It seemed like you all wanted a general idea of what the preorderers wanted and then you were going to set up the store with the final options you decided on.  The survery also didn't specify that the...

    EvilDragon's Pre-Order Survey Thread

I agree.  I was just reiterating that the refund was offered in the survey, which I assume means that those people will just wait until pandora is profitable again. And whether it's easier to send a product or partial refund would depend on whether they have all the pandoras in stock, and if...

    EvilDragon's Pre-Order Survey Thread

But it was one of the survey options.  There were different upgrade options, a wait it out option, and a refund option.  Plus, wouldn't giving a $200 refund be cheaper than sending out a >$200 unit?

    EvilDragon's Pre-Order Survey Thread

Not to derail this thread, but as far as a monetary refund, the only preorder survey option was for a full refund.  There were several upgrade pricepoints which has been discussed, but it might have also been helpful to help them clear the queue to have options like $200 refund, $100 refund, or...
