Pyra Prototype Videos - Askarus Edition

500 Hz is more of a hard limit in the backlight driver used. It's really nothing more than a boost converter in constant current mode. You can control it in two ways. One is to apply an analog voltage to the enable pin. The other is to PWM the enable pin. The latter is the mode used in the pyra...

Pyra Prototype Videos - Askarus Edition

Imo, the filter should really be on the input side of the backlight step-up regulator, making the PWM signal an analog value. That lets the switch-mode powersupply regulate brightness at hundreds of kHz instead of what, 100 Hz? The regulator driving the backlight supports this mode. I'd imagine...

Want to buy a CNC mill kit, need some advice

I've considered a Millright M3, but I'm still several months away from plonking down any money on one. Its $329 starting price quickly shoots into orbit when mandatory options, shipping and VAT is considered...

At least for the earlier entries in the i.MX series, like the i.MX6 and 7, you can literally go onto mouser.com and buy *one*. Or two. Or five. Or a thousand. Low quantity is not going to stop access to the SoCs.

    Devuan on Pyra

The only dependency the dbp system has on systemd, is the init script. I have two version in repo, the systemd one was the first one aTc got working. Refuse is a harsh word, more like "nag at you". In true linux spirit, the button to launch anyway isn't going anywhere, and if running dbps on...

It can be very difficult to avoid timing problems when threading out tasks that you'd think are obvious targets for threading. Synchronizing emulation between different threads can easily eat up any performance advantage you might otherwise expect from using several cores rather than just one.

...looking at the left-bottom corner of the first pic, I think I can just about see the top of the stamps used when I shipped it to the US 6 months ago...

Is UDF recommended for pandora (and pyra) sd cards?

No, it's not UTF-16, it's a subset of UTF-16. UTF-16 isn't a fixed length encoding etc. UDF can handle the unicode BMP, the lower 16 bits.

Is UDF recommended for pandora (and pyra) sd cards?

UDF is an overengineered monstrosity that never even tried to reduce filesystem overhead. But set up correctly, it'll work pretty much anywhere, it sort-of does unicode, and it supports posix permissions, so...

    GPD WIN 2

I'd hazard a guess that barely anything on the pyra mainboard have drivers on windows. Doesn't mean it can't be done. Some aspects, like the keyboard, does not give a shit about PC standards, in that it doesn't even remotely conform to any standard layout. Create a custom keymap, and it could...

    H.265 / HEVC hardware decoding

No, the DSP in the pyra is nothing spectacular. There are several other hardware blocks in the OMAP5 for video processing, like IVA-HD and the VPE, and then there's ABE for audio processing. None of these are currently working.

    A possible PND-system replacement

In what way wouldn't it? I've used it on amd64, and there is enough of a mechanism to differentiate different architectures, their runtime environments, and what architecture the current install is capable of running.

apps vs packages focus of the repo

Adding repo-specific keys to aid in presentation of app-less packages is not out of the question, there's already plenty of keys in the package data that the dbp system ignores

    Anyone here from Sweden?

It is illegal to marry under the age of 18 (as of 2015, possible with special permits before,) although in some cases (from the sources I can find, single digit numbers per year) acklowledged when done abroad, but only if neither had any connection with Sweden at the time. There is currently as...

Ah, that must be what I read about in the news the other day, about the american misinformation about what the situation is like here. That Alt-facts fad you have over there is quite a thing, eh?
