Pyra news partially stale from the dragon's mouth

That raises a good question: I ordered on day two, but due to daily limits in the infrastructure, my payment was not processed until day 10. Is my position in line based on when the voucher was delivered, or when I submitted the original order?

Some personal stuff - and prototypes building!

'Breathe plenty of air' seems like sound medical advice to me.

    Locking the Session / Screen

You know, for the longest time I couldn't find any screen locking utilities for the Pandora. I just took to never letting the device out of my sight, since even with a screen lock it's trivial to simply yank the sd cards and access anything on it anyways. This prompted me to revisit the idea...

    Pandora Repo Preview Pics

I've got this, to point to the screenshot stored in previews/: <previewpics> <pic src="preview/shot.png" /> </previewpics> And this turns out to be the problem, because I missed the 's'. Thanks!

    Pandora Repo Preview Pics

Having finished porting and packaging the broadcast tool butt, I figured I'd share it in case anyone else found it useful. However, even after letting it settle for a few hours after upload to the repo, the preview picture I included still isn't showing up on the website or in pndmanager. How...

    Mainboard repairs

Those fiddly little things are a right pain to hand-solder. I could not find any suppliers that were able to sell me the part I needed; fortunately, Coilcraft just gave me six of them, with free shipping. Thanks for the help, ED!

    Mainboard repairs

Thanks for the info! I have a few other things to acquire from the likes of DigiKey, so I can add this on as well. Sure, I don't mind. I'll post back if/when I manage to get it repaired. Thanks!

    Mainboard repairs

Good to know that this kind of thing has been repaired before, and thanks for the hot glue tip. I don't think the old coil is reusable, though, as it appears to have left its contacts behind. What are the specs of this particular component?

    Mainboard repairs

Ordinarily, I would agree. However, I had a glance at my old Rebirth, and the solder pads are underneith the coil. I'm not sure I have a soldering tip sharp enough to touch the pad without cooking the coil.

    Mainboard repairs

Hey ED: Is this fixable? If it's not, can you sell just the naked board? For a little background, I was lifting my GHz Pandora off a desk and it slipped out of my hand. The floor was kind enough to catch it for me, but the backlight stopped working. Nubs too, apparently. Opened it up to...

    Backlight Control

You are in all likelihood correct. Once it compiled without errors and gave the expected output in all cases, I stuck a fork in it and called it done. Pretty much the same here. I do the lion's share of my work in tokenized or interpreted languages like Ruby or Bourne Shell, or in assembly...

    Backlight Control

GCC was complaining that I couldn't assign a variable inside a for, so I had to assign it beforehand; then it complained that I couldn't not assign it in the for loop. What more than to appease the fickle compiler gods? That whole makefile is pretty much seletively copy-pasted from the Gnu Make...

    Backlight Control

A very big part of the reason I prefer open-source to closed-source whenever possible.  It certainly is!

    Backlight Control

The Pandora does not have an ambient light sensor; nor will the Pyra, it seems. So I faked it. Since I live in the dark, I like to have the screen dim; but occasionally, I must venture outside amidst the accursed daystar, and the screen is nigh-unreadable unless cranked to maximum brightness...

    2014 - a Sneak Peek! (2014-01-02)

This happened with my rebirth, from keeping it in my pocket all the time. When the screws rusted, the head expanded slightly and the rust would catch on the inside of the case as I was unscrewing them. It took a lot of force and a tiny bit of mineral oil to coax them to come out, and a lot of...

TV Out Cable: Time to Mass produce! (2013-06-22)

Who needs a tape measure when you know how long your arm is and you always have a length of cable or wire hanging around?

Is there a problem with Dragon Box Shop?

A seller is not obligated to collect sales tax for sales to US buyers, unless that seller has a physical storefront in the same state as the buyer. The buyer, however, is obligated to pay to their state a 'use tax' on all taxable purchases for which tax was not collected at the time of purchase...

    Pandora business/advert cards

http://boards.openpandora.org/index.php/topic/11663-pandora-businessadvert-cards-mk2/ My posts in that thread have attached the source images I used to create my cards; you're free to use those to print your own clamshell cards. I used VistaPrint, for which I had a coupon, and the quality is...

    SD Cards as OpenPandora "cartridges"

Kinda reminds me of one of the ideas for the lib-ray project: creating an open dvd/bluray-esque format whose recommended storage device is an MMC/SD card. The concept is not without merit, for sizeable assets.

    Pandora Pandora Scripts

Nope. Mine brings up the 'Run' dialogue. I'm more text-oriented, so it's a lot more comfortable for me to just type what I want as opposed to menu-down-down-down-down-down-right-down-down-enter or having to pop out the stylus. It's one of the reasons I love this device and its keyboard so much...
