Hardware A horrible question about replacing chips

BIG NEWS I was able to find some chinese resellers on eBay that sold the TI power management chip. First attempt did not go well, and I basically just melted all the balls of the chip together. I also found that my liquid flux was woefully inadequate, evaporating immediately when heat was...

Whats the going rate for a first batch Pandora

What price would you hope for? If it works then it is already more valuable than some of the ones on ebay now. I just hope you are in (or willing to ship to) europe, as that seems to be where most of the interest is.

    PiBoy DMG - Finally a well-built, affordable RPi4 handheld

my point was more that AFAIK no one has made a pi based console that can be put in a low power 'instant on' state in the same way a phone, or a laptop, or a pandora can. The fact that I can slide the screen up on my xperia play and I am right where I left off in some PS1 game is extremely useful.

Was the iCP2 Pyra voucher thing ever decided?

I pledged $137. Ive attached the email they sent out at the time. I guess that means I would get $73 off? seems like a lot.

Was the iCP2 Pyra voucher thing ever decided?

It is mentioned in the FAQ and I haven't been able to find any info on it on the forums. Honestly I don't think I ever even replied to the original message from kickstarter.

    PiBoy DMG - Finally a well-built, affordable RPi4 handheld

I've been looking into pi based consoles and I am surprised that none of them have a sleep mode like the pandora or a phone. You have to fully boot and shut down every time you want to use it...

Hardware A horrible question about replacing chips

Long long ago my pandora died. The display backlight circuit broke after a fall and after fixing it the keyboard was partiall unresponsive. A few years ago this led me to foolishly attempt to reflow the chip responsible for the keyboard (TPS65950). This did not go well..... So my question is...

    Hardware Keyboard Problems

Well everything else still works it seems, wifi, usb, audio even though it sounds quite bad. I find that after a period of time the whole keyboard stops working too. Game controls keep working fine however. So I am not quite sure what I can do.

    Hardware Keyboard Problems

Be aware that my initial problem was that the Pandora fell so hard it broke off an inductor (was wrong when I said cap) so it may well have done something lad to the internal traces. I have looked at the hacker guide and schematics, it looks like specific column and row connections have broken...

    Hardware Keyboard Problems

I attempted that, but the tracks disappear, and the chip controlling the keyboard is bga, so unless there are test points I can't do much.

    Hardware Keyboard Problems

So I have finally tried to bring my pandora back to life. A few years ago I dropped it, knocking a cap off the board and killing the screen, but now with the schematics out I was able to find out what that component was and replace it. There is now however a new problem, certain keys do not...

    new component needed!

I am just going to hope that my attempts last year to repair it did not damage it, I will try and get a suitable inductor from my uni electronic store soon!

    new component needed!

So from a quick search it turns out its a 22uH inductor! I hope that in my attempted repairs I didn't break it more o:

Where would I find them? o:

    new component needed!

the capacitor is long gone, and at the time the actual contacts of the cap were ripped off, making it impossible to resolder. I have tried to find out what capacitance it was and replace it, but it never seemed to work.

So I have decided to try and get my pandora fixed (for real this time)

So a long time ago (Jan of 2014) I dropped my pandora, knocking off one of the display capacitors and killing it. At the time I wanted to send it to Germany to try and get it repaired, but I never got round to it :( Now its summer of 2015 and I want to do some testing and see if it still works...

    new component needed!

Ugh, doesn't look like I'm going to re flow this, the pads themselves got knocked off the capacitor, and I don't trust myself to not make it worse s: Where and how can I send it to you EvilDragon ? c: thanks for this btw.

    new component needed!

That's really nice of you o:  I did try soldering it, worked until i put it back together, if i put a looot of pressure on it it works, I may try reflowing
