    The Future of Pyra's CPU

Guys, a GUI is anything that provides visuals to a program or action. Stop this nonsense about "real GUIs" or "desktop GUIs" and use specific terms for what you are discussing. If you are wanting windows, then say that you want windows. (or a windowing system, or a window manager) There's no...

    Just a quick heads up

You skipped over what I explained and decided to argue a completely separate point. The fact of the matter is that your first conjunct poisoned the well allowing for cognitive bias to take over. If you truly meant for them to be wholly separate, you shouldn't have included them in the same...

    Just a quick heads up

His assumption made sense because you implied that you were talking about when rumble was necessary by mentioning the pocket scenario in the same condition. Rumble isn't necessary when you are looking at the screen. Is it cool? For some people, yes. For others, no. Rumble is hardly as...

    Just a quick heads up

Well, you can't fault him for thinking you meant while it was in your pocket. If the device wasn't in your pocket and something important happened in the game, it's possible to make the player aware of it by showing that something happened on the screen that the player is currently giving their...

I would suggest ClickQuest, but it appears to be gone. XD -God Ginrai

Playing visual novels via QEMU on Pyra

That's great news. I made that post specifically because I didn't think WINE worked w/ box86 yet, so it's good to know that there may be an avenue yet. :) -God Ginrai

Playing visual novels via QEMU on Pyra

What about things with only Windows versions, like Fate/Stay Night or Utawarerumono? I don't believe either of those use engines that are ported to ARM, so we would need some sort of x86 compatibility layer as well as a Windows compatibility layer. -God Ginrai

    The Future of Pyra's CPU

Every reputable source I can find that discusses the OMAP5430 and the type of its memory says it is PoP. Also, the data sheet you linked doesn't specify whether its memory is PoP or non-PoP. However, I did find a board using the OMAP5430 that does specifically mention that its memory is PoP...

    The Future of Pyra's CPU

No, the OMAP5430 had PoP memory. The OMAP5432 is the one that does not. Source: https://www.ti.com/pdfs/wtbu/SWCT010.pdf -God Ginrai

It reminds me of the Pandora!

Pretty much anything that ED could get his hands on now that is worth spending development costs towards is more performant than the OMAP5 already. -God Ginrai

It reminds me of the Pandora!

That's great to hear. I'm still looking forward to the device as-is, but I'm especially interested in the performance boost that a new CPU board will give us, so I like that options are already being considered. -God Ginrai

What is your Reason you want this Thing?

When we got it is not as important as how much it takes to emulate. From my understanding, Saturn emulation should require less processing power than GCN emulation does. (and I would assume the ability to emulate each of its processors on a different core plays a big part in that) -God Ginrai

What is your Reason you want this Thing?

My main goal is to have DC and Saturn on the go. Seeing what else is capable will be good as well. And if the promise of CPU boards holds true, maybe one day I'll be able to play GCN and PS2 on it. -God Ginrai

What about the RAM that would be attached on top? We need to make sure to account for that. -God Ginrai

    Emoji font

I never said you were. You're not the one who brought up Nokia. ;) No, I get you. A basic font that takes up little space that covers all the unicode code points could be useful as a fallback font, if only to avoid seeing boxes at weird times. Most sites are pretty good about providing their...

I think that says more about the software you are using than the usefulness of having fonts. -God Ginrai

Even if they show up as squares, they still copy as their individual character codes, so you can easily search them online and find out what they represent just as easily as you could throw foreign text into a translator. -God Ginrai

Is that really a testament to their usefulness, however? Instead, that seems to me a prime example of why you shouldn't use them. Your Aunt's SMS was no different than if someone sent you a message in a language you don't speak. -God Ginrai
