Double Cross 2.0, is a Tetris like game that has pieces falling in both the X and Y direction.

This is a pygame, so all the source is in python.  I added links to where I grabbed it, and it's *very* minimal changes in order to get it to play full screen, and allow for an editable high score file.

The game runs at 520x520 by default, and I basically set it up to be 520x480, so the bottom 40 pixels are in fact cut off (whoops).  I was considering recoding the renderer to shrink elements down, but honestly you won't miss the last 40 pixels as they are mostly framing for the game.  I might take a look at it in the future.

Anyway, enjoy!

Latest Update

- Map pandora buttons to game

Start -> Pause

A Button -> Exit Game

B Button -> Select Option/Value

Old Updates

- Added C4A Support.  If you're online it'll upload your score to the C4A server.

Known Issues/Requests

- The bottom 40 pixels are chopped off... but you don't really need them so this may not get fixed.

- Add C4A notification success/failure to game

- Default High Score Name value

Note, this needs Python 2.7 to run. I'd not noticed that I'd not updated in a while, and got syntax errors in my pndout until I updated.

Good game. I couldn't see the challenge when I started, but soon enough the pace picked up and once I needed to start depending on observing what was coming next, I got confused with the two next windows. This will take some training, I suspect.

Do you mean this needs 1.60?  I can update the PXML.xml to include the requirement if that is the case.

I absolutely love this game. The puzzeling is made challenging again (tetris is a meh for me now). Still learning about the mechanics (like being able to go through a block). Good stuff sir.

Oh, and the music... the music.... is real music....

thank you for the port.

Hey, for anybody who likes themselves some competition... I've updated the game to output your score to the Comp4All site.  Bring it on!

I have sent a banner to milkshake, but not sure how long that will take to get uploaded.  It looks snazzy though...

I like the game, especially the new C4A support (8900 points, beat that! Except you are foxblock, then ignore that!). However I have some suggestions:

  • give some feedback about the c4a submitment. When does it happen? Does it succed?
  • It is strange the use the keyboard (Return-key) to enter the name, but the other buttons of the pandora don't work... It would be better, if you would support the game buttons instead the Return key or additionally.
  • Some informations about exiting the game ingame would be neat.
  • It would also be neat, if the game would remind the last entered name. Even with my short name it is annoying to reenter it everytime. ;)

Well I mapped some keys up... see top post.  I also documented this in the README.txt.

I will see when I get some free time to add in the other features.  It will probably be a slow role as I like to do one feature at a time since it makes things a bit easier to test.

The score is uploaded just before you add in your high score name.  I'm considering adding a screen to ask if you want to upload the score or not, since right now it just always tried and if it fails it is silent.  I'm thinking a retry option might be in order.

However... I'll probably get around to the remembering the user name next, as I already have a pretty good idea how to implement it.

Oh wow.  Just decided to google my game randomly and found this.

I wrote this a few years back and then semi-recently updated it to its current 2.0 state.

Had no idea anyone ported it or really still played it at all.

Anyway a few links:

I don't own a Pandora so I guess I can't try for the highscore :(

But I'm definitely glad to see people playing.

Current project I'm working on is a recode of one of my other early projects.

It is a long way from complete, but check it out please.

That's nice, always great to see the original developers here :)

Online high score competition is really fun with that game :)

If you want to add in support for posting scores on the windows version... I'm pretty sure I can help you get that worked out.  Right now I just set it up to take scores from the Pandora... but we ought to be able to get the code worked out to post scores for windows as well if you have any interest.

I'd just been trolling some of the pygames to see what wasn't too hard to port given the 800x480 resolution limit of our device and speed requirements since some games are big hogs.

Anyway, going forward I think I'll put a post on the pygame discussion and try and add in other information into the top level port post, even though it is included in the README.txt I'm putting in for documentation.

Thanks for dropping by!

I thought this would be easier... Man if you don't setup right early on you are just toast no matter how well you play later in the game!

I haven't found a solid recovery mechanic like I could pull off in the original game.
