Calling all you video experts,

I bought a EzCap 116 from

http://www.ezcap.tv/

Software that comes with it is ok but dont like my computer to much lol all though it could be to do with the tv-out from the caanoo,
Anyway So I decided to use a free one called Debut Video Capture and it works very well,
Just wondered what would be good settings to use like audio and video encoding and fps ect,
Goner record some pcsx4all 2.2 videos as well as other stuff and emulators for those times when ya bored :p

Cheers ruffnutts :)

why not use virtualdub?
vdub compression looks really bad for me for some reason. I've tried many different settings. It just didn't produce good enough quality for me.

Thanks for your replys - think I just mess with the setting of the Debut Video Capture Software as its very simple to use anyway :)

P.S What I`ve been doing when recording - is setting the res to 320x240 same size as the caanoo screen
is that a good thing to do?

Cheers ruffnutts B)

well i don't think the output is 320x240 when you use tv out, it will probably be something else like this (this is a guess) :

320x240 = LCD
720x480 = TV-OUT NTSC
720x576 = TV-OUT PAL

About programs, if your drivers is any good you should be able to use it in any application by selecting the WDM source, if your software is any good you should be able to use any codec (for encoding not decoding) currently installed on your system. Which means if you install FFDShow or something similar you got a whole range of encoders and encoding options availbile. I'm not certain but i believe DScaler might be able to do this as will virtual dub most problaby. Bad quality is a user error, it means you did not choose the right encoder and options you should have selected. It all depends on how much space you want it to take and which codec (for encoding) you had chosen.

i Personally use a payed version of christv, the payed version supports the things i said above, the free version i'm not certain of and i use(d) my tvcard to hook it up which is basically the same as such cable or similar devices.

FDDShow has many options to improve quality or apply filters if you google a bit you'll find such options
to give you an idea, i had really really crap quality on tv out probably due to using the original gp2x cable but i managed to get it a lot better by playing with some FFDSHOW settings, i uploaded a video around that time taken with my android phone and uploaded it to youtube so you can see the diffrence. On screenshots the diffrences are more noticeable i'll see if i still have to screenshots somewhere
here's the video (you can see it a bit near the end where i zoom in a lot to my computer screen and then activate and deactivate the ffdshow filters):

edit: found the screenshots, just look at them fullscreen you'll easily see the diffrence then :)
without ffdshow (the default image i got using the gp2x tv out cable): http://img301.imageshack.us/f/withoutffdshow.jpg/
With ffdshow (applying a few sharpen and blur filters): http://img222.imageshack.us/f/withffdshow.jpg/
