Hi guys

I've been thinking of getting a GP32 for a while but now that I have the money I'm not sure if I want to get a Zodiac or GP. What can the GP32 do that the Zodiac cant, and vica versa. I'm tired of my SP and am thinking of selling it for something I can really get into like my Dreamcast. Thanks for any help.

Hi,

What you can expect from your GP32...
GAMES:
-Excellent PC Engine emulator (great 2D games)
-Excellent ST emulator
-Excellent NES emulator
-Very good SNES emulator
-(I hope it's going to be great, and I think it will,B) but for the moment is only...)OK Neo Geo Pocket emulator
-A bunch of cool ported games (Doom, Pang, LucasArt games like Secret of the Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, etc...) working great
-

MEDIA:
-Book reader
-Divx player (never used but heard it's very good)
-MP3 player (don't use it that much as my SMC is full of games)

MISC:
-Very cool, helpfull and creative community/forum
-Lots of new games/apps are being programmed regulary --> scene is real fun to follow
- etc...

Hope this helps, BTW get a FLU it's really worth it

Forgot to mention that there is some kind of DC--GP32 link, although it is still unclear what you can do with it (Giana' s is eventually being developped on both platform)

It will be released for both platforms, that's a fact :D

To the main question:

GP32 has allready a lot of released free software so I would give it first choice. yosp allready mentioned a lot of examples. Beside that a GP32 is also cheaper.

hey dreamcast - dont get a gp - they're really crap lol

i hate the thing, 32 years old and using the frigger every damn day, never had a handheld before - the variety of stuff you can do on this is a joke - having the option of watching a movie on the train, maybe reading a book, listening to some tunes or playing a disgusting amount of games be they emus, commercial or pd - is so limiting ;)

absolute rubbish - awful machine - at a rough guess there are probably 50,000 games supported for it..... that's probably not enough choice, i dont think this is for everyone ;)

but if you MUST get one - then get an FLU. and 2 SMC cards. and the GP case. maybe some little headphones. and rechargeable batteries. possibly never have to buy nothing for it again....

I was in the same boat before Christmas, having to decide between a Zodiac and GP32 and every day since then I've been so glad I went for the GP32. Aside from the fact that the Zodiac isn't available to purchase outside of the USA, the GP32 is so far ahead of it in the emulation and homebrew scene. While the GP32 has several free full-speed emulators, the Zodiac has two - a NES and Master System, both still in the beta stage and both costing $15 and $20 respectively.

Don't get me wrong, the Zodiac is a good machine, but it'll be about a year befor it catches up on what the GP32 can do right now. There's also been reports of a lot of people having problems with the joystick on the console, so if you do go for a Zodiac, wait until that's been cleared up.

and most of all, your dick increases size by 10 and all women are yours. if you haven't noticed: GP stands for 'get porn' and the 32 that it's even more porn that you can watch in the 31 days of one month... ^^

my predocessors speech is pretty complete - go and get one!

Alright thanks for the help guys, I guess I will purchase the GP32 ASAP. To get some extra cash im going to sell my SP and the games so I can purchase an iPod. Thanks again for the help and maybe once I get the handheld I'll be an avid poster.

bah, why bother sell SP? just wait a month or two and use the GP32 as your Mp3 player *get another card, once you get an i-pod, you can then use this card for more games* untill you have enough cash, then you own SP, GP32 and iPod :D

Well once I get my GP32 I wont really play my SP much. Is the sound quality that good on a GP32 if your playing Mp3's? Also the size is another factor, I would just much rather have an iPod for music. I don't feel comfortable with my GP32 at school, all my friends have had something stolen from them and I haven't had it happen to me yet, I'm just a little paranoid with my things is all.

i have a GBA as well but to be honest, it just gathers dust since I got my GP32. there's tons of games on it (GBA) that i still would love to play, but there's just not enough time - I want it for emulation more, and GP32 just kills it in the emulation dep't.

GBA still is the only place to go if you want commercial games though, and there's plenty of great ones available.

that would suck to have an ipod and a gp32 stolen - what's that, getting close to a grand? Be careful where you leave your stuff...

Few more quick q's. Do all the GP32 front lit systems come in that ugly grey color? Is it really that much of a difference if I have the front lit screen? Is it as bad as a GBA? I don't really do much playing in the dark since I have a lamp.

it's better than a GBA, but a light will do it much justice
get a FLU, you wont regret it *sadly i regret not telling my parents whats the difference bewtween the FLU and Regular, they chose first one that popped up on Lik-Sang, wich is non flu.... i can just wait till i get money to buy a flu anyway :D
