I am trying to make a decent icon, but when it appears in the launcher menu the colours are horrible: where can I find (immediately!) the palette that I need?

I have no time, as I have to make it for the ADIC2004, and it is December 29th!
Is it a 16 or 256 (or something else) colours palette? Is it a standard/web-safe palette or something different?

Help! :(

Hi

A good way to extract the palette from existing icons is to use the excellent free IrfanView which can extract and import very easily... You should be able to find or extracting a working good icon? or just use one the windups background etc...

The best place is GP32 world (http://www.gp32world.co.uk/) who have tuts and wallpaper downloads for windups also (using standard palette).

The direct link is: http://www.gp32world.co.uk/modules.php?op=...&artid=6&page=1
The file is downloadable a few lines down where it says:
Colours->Save Palette->Call it "wind-ups" or use this one

Great! I use PaintShopPro and I have found what I need, the palette file! Thanks pea!

It looks similar to the standard/web-safe palette, but bigger.
