Microsoft LifeCam Studio

can you open up an xterm terminal, enable USB (in the toolbar, there is this menu that allows to enable your USB port, which is disabled by default), then type dmesg (remember the last position of the text), then plug it in, and dmesg again, and post the output of that (only the new lines caused by plugging in the device). Hopefully it is detected as something... and all you are missing is the right .so file... (think of it as a DLL or driver file).

dmesg always detects a new device in the USB, it may not know what it is, but it SHOULD print something about it.

USB was disabled

I don't know how to scroll or select text in xterm.

I hope this information is enough:

But: "VLC is unable to open the MRL 'v4l2:///dev/video0'. Check the log for details." (Where is the log?)

You can do "dmesg > somefile.txt" to save it to some file.

And it looks like you're on old firmware, try updating.

Finally, reflashing again fixed those problems.

But now, on v1.71, the cam still doesn't seem to work (same error with VLC) :(
