snes9x4p problem - "Q" button quits

There is a serious problem with snes9x4p for me. Pressing the "Q" key exits whatever game you are playing and takes you back to the Pickle launcher. I find it impossible to play most games as my thumb on the D-pad is constantly hitting the "Q" and dropping me from the game.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know a workaround?

It's actually supposed to do that.

I don't know if it's possible to re-map it as I haven't had a need to look into it, but if it is, there should be a configuration file hidden in the appdata directory for it, which may allow for that.

I don't have my Pandora to hand right now, but I'll check once I do, if that would help. :)

I've checked, and I've found it.

In the appdata directory for Snes9x4P, there is a file called "config.txt", and all of the keys are recorded here using the numbers used by SDL. Specifically, "Quit" is mapped to "27" (Escape, which on the Pandora also happens to be "Q"). I suspect that to change this behaviour, you will need to change this number to another, matching another key. The full list of SDL codes is below, taken from "SDL_keysym.h". Pick the key you want, and change the number in Snes9x4P's config.txt to that - I'm pretty sure that that will sort it out for you.

Thanks, I tried changing the Quit mapping in the config.txt but it doesn't have any effect. Did doing this work for you?

I'm afraid that I haven't tried it, as I haven't got any need to re-map the keys or controls. I looked it up as a courtesy (I didn't even know that config.txt existed there until I checked  ).

I'll have to defer to the experts here - my apologies for being unable to help further.

No surprise there. The available config.txt is *only* for picklelauncher, not for snes9x itself. There is no persistent storage of config options available for this emulator and I don't plan to implement it (myself). Though I do welcome patches adding features like this or improved scaling. For information about getting the sources, check the included info document.
