OK... this is something I really hoped would "just work"(tm), but I can't get it to work. I can get Freetype to display any Latin-1 characters, but I want it to display any character. First I tried using the standard char*, but that got me a bunch of random nonsense (it wasn't interpreting it as UTF-8 as I hoped it would). So now I'm using wchar_t* (UCS-4, apparently), and now I just get boxes on any non-Latin1 characters.

Has anyone gotten this to work? Freetype is supposed to support unicode. Yes, this font has the characters that I am testing with. Meh.

OK guys, for future reference, don't trust KDE's charmap to tell you what characters a font has. It lies and replaces characters that aren't there with characters from a different font.

Stupid thing.

I think I've got stuff working now.

EDIT: And it is confirmed, Freetype and Unicode play nicely on GP2X and KDE's charmap is terrible.
