I was really hoping to see WINE available for the openpandora. i have several windows-exclusive programs that i wanted to try on the openpandora, but i couldn't find a version of WINE for it. is there one that is available but just isn't in PND manager?

Wine requires an X86 processor to work. It's possible to use Wine with some x86 emulation layer like qemu or exagear desktop.. both are not really easy to setup on the Pandora.

you could mention which programs in particular youd need from windows, maybe we can help you find an alternative

WINE is available on the Pandora, but it requires a bit of manual work due to the complexity of the project.

I posted downloads and instructions at various points in this thread:

Please note you will get no support from me when using these, so you'll need to experiment on your own.

Thanks Lunixbochs. I wanted to find those links, but I only have my phone this weekend and it's a bit hard to find and link things.

Or in other words: Wine Is Not an Emulator.

It simply tries to tell a windows program where to find the hardware on a linux system, since a windows program has no use for an ARM cpu its pretty useless.

What for Software do you use?

We can maybe find another for Linux who do the Same or

we can maybe help you to get them run on the Pandora.

Example:

I got Windows Software Technisat Mediaport  working fine on the Openpandora

and with mplayer can i stream Videos while Downloading with it ;)

With a little Luck is your Software not so complicated to get run too ^_^
