This topic is meant for us to pin down problems with the emulation. It's good but it's not perfect (or even as good as STEem) at the moment. If we pin down specific problems it will aid the developers of CaSTaway (GP, CE and vanilla) in fixing them.

Game: Sensible Soccer (and all/most Sensible games)
Problem: Crashes on joystick/input.
Analysis: Possible unsupported interrupt/polling technique?

Any others? What about Hunter for a start? And the mouse issues with Defender of the Crown and Elvira 2?

Game: Wizkid
Problem: Crashes on joystick/input.
Analysis: Possible unsupported interrupt/polling technique?

just copied yours cause its the exact same problem for that game :) more later

A biy OT, but....

Seeing as you play Wizkid Bonks, I assume you play Wizball too....

Can you tell me what key you have to press to select the abilities you get from the bubble things... On the speccy version, I think it was space, but doesn;t seem to be the same.....

If you don't know, does anyone else???

You need to waggle your joystick left and right quickly, this will select the powerup you've chosen.

Giana Sisters - the screen doesn't scroll properly! eg. rather than the character stay relatively in the middle of the screen, it instead gets 3/4 of the way then the screen jumps and the character is back in the middle again  (doesn't make the game any easier to play!)

Twin Worlds (msa file) - GP32 completely restarts itself on load (Twin Worlds isn't the best game ever lol, but i remember playing it when growing up and the theme music has been stuck in my head ever since)

Turrican 2 (one of my all time fav games!!!) - the music on the intro screen is completely messed up...the music in the game is ace, but it speeds up and slows down alot (due to emulation i assume...i doubt this can be changed)...oh and the top right GP32 button which can be used to do that "special vertical line flash lazer weapon thing" - well sometimes it doesn't always respond which is strange

that's all i've found so far ;)

other than that, it's perfect!

That's probably becasue of the frameskip being set to 1. The laser thing is only displayed every other frame (which makes it sort of flicker), so if the frameskip is set to 1 and the laser is only being displayed on the 'skipped' frames, it won't appear.

The same problem happens on Turrican on GPengine...

Try setting the frameskip to 0 and see if the porblem is still there...

I would add:

Blood Money - bullets, explosions and the coins are corrupted. Slow when frameskip set to 0.

The demo of Blood Money also suffers from this problem.

Star Wars - samples don't playback properply. Laser SFX stay on longer than they should.

Speedball 2:
The sprites on the playfield are messed up.

Ghouls'n'Ghosts:
Level 1: Just fine.
Level 2: Minor graphical glitches at end of level
Level 3: Major graphical glitches... makes game nearly unplayable

Super Skweek:
Minor Graphical Glitches during game (some flashes, etc.)

Game: Microprose Golf (Atari ST Pirate Gold, 3 discs)
Problem: Crashes after intro
Analysis: possible unsupported interrupt/polling technique?

Same here, the Speedball 2 ive been playing is perfect, so much better than the GBA version.

I havnt heard the famous 'ice cream' shout yet tho... was it in the Atari version?

Just a quick ammend to the Sensi Soccer/Microprose Golf issue...

after they have bombed the system the joystick input method no longer works. haven't tried other input methods but will do soon.

some incompatabilities i noticed when going through some PP menus:

PP34: Escape From The Planet Of The Robot Monster etc.
Apart from the name of the game being too long for the menu (wraps onto next line) it loads fine and the music starts, but the game asks for Disc 2. It should not do this and does not do this in STEem etc.

PP58: The Spy Who Loved Me etc.
Does not go past bootsector.

PP91: JWWS etc.
The mouse does not work in game.

PP95: Hunter etc.
Halts after loading screen - music stops correctly but game loading does not procceed

HTH

i found no probs with speedball 2 either
apart from there not being the "ice cream ice cream " voice
other wise the sound is spot on.
