I searched around the forum but i couldnt find anything. Can i play the Dig with scumm? That game is awesome but i thought i heard once that it didnt really work with the emulator. Am i wrong?

Hmmmm..

I have got this one to work but it wasn't playable for some reason.

It wasn't at its best on the GP32 since its meant to be a "spielbergian" movie sort of a thing and on the GP32 I did just have the game with non of the cut scenes.

So it does work somehow but you'd need to know the game really well to play it without cut-scenes. :(

Short answer: It's too big to be playable so it does not work.

Longer answer: The game WILL run but you have to hack so much of the game about that it is not playable and has no video or audio :(. There are a few possible ways to make it more playable that maybe I’ll look at when I get some free time. More interested in fixing bugs in supported games then supporting hacks of games ;).

It should'nt be so hard. I think movies can be resampled, music and soud converted to ogg or mp3. And with a little luck it could fit into 128 mb smc :)

Hmm... the problem is the videos are a LucasArts specific format, not a standard movie format...

It's soo sad that broken sword can't be ported aswell. Is there any chance it ever will be. I mean it's alright on the GBA but with no speech, hardly any sound and slideshows instead of videos it's just not the same. :(
but It's a bloody good port, the animation's superb. But a few bugs like badly mapped out walk areas.

read my stuff here : http://www.gp32x.de/board/index.php?showtopic=6371&st=45

the video files are not needed for the game and they are only cutscenes, no big deal. the speech would be nice but there is still sound

it's the single biggest working game on the gp32 and graphically and plot-wise the best scumm game on the gp

great stuff

Yeah, unfortunately, the cut-scenes are part of what make it great... a lot of the story happens in them.

Maybe we could fnd someone to replace the videos with some static clips from them with captions or something instead...

Maybe not lol.

Actually, tbh, the best solution would be to persuade lucasarts to make a GP-specific version of The Dig and sell it, since I suspect they could cut down on size a fair bit. But I doubt they'll do that; we all know their attitude to ScummVM (i.e. they'd sue the pants off them if they had a legal foothold to do so)

That's what the GBA did to broken sword. :p
It does fuck it up a fair bit.

I wish i knew how to do anything we talk about on this board. I feel bad always asking and pleading. Man to have the dig on the GP though.
