GP32NEWS:
No worries... we are still alive! But now the bad news... Just a short note that the project is on break till around September 2004. The game is just on a break and there will be a final, the project is NOT cancelled. But now the better news... Our musician Alex is going to re-touch a few songs and makes them ready for the Soundtrack-CD which will be avalaible with the EXTENDED SPECIAL DREAMCAST VERSION of the game which will have Chris Huelsbeck's original Ingame/Titlemusic. If there is enough interest, we can get in touch with Manfred Trenz to get permission to re-made the classic leveles and release them as kind of bonus. Please vote at the webboard for this so we can get an overview and know if the additional work is it worth.

Wow...only two users responded...don't the rest of you care! :)
Id think no others don't. Although I played a few levels it was not my cup of tea. Looks like it isn't others either......

Nice graphics and sound, and looked like a good game, I dont play it because the controls were a bit....unfriendly. (jumping, movement, collision detection)

And lack of a run button, well that was the final straw for me, I am a person who holds the run button on all platform games all the time and no run button made me feel like I was playing the game in slow motion...

It looked good though, a nice quality game, and the music / sounds were excelent, but its as kotd said, not my cup o' tea. (Its still on my GP32 though...it was one of the first games I put on my GP32, and I play it every now and then when I get bored)

Seeing as Giana's Return was based on a game that was released years ago the control style was designed to emulate that game as closely as possible. The lack of run and the 'floaty' jump were all a part of the original game and it was a concious decision to inclue them in Giana's Return.

I never said it wasnt, I was completely aware of that fact. Its just the reason I conciously choose not to play this game. :)

I think it would be cool if they used this engine for a side-project that is a more "mario" styled game. What I dont like about the Giana Sisters series is that the ground you walk on is made of bricks, unlike the Mario games where its dirt/sand/whatever.

Well, the game is my cup of tea in contrast, but the password system annoys me; I put it down for a month, and now I've lost my list of them lol. But good luck with real life, and look forward to the next version :)

Yeah, I always wondered why they decided to use passwords. Maybe for the retro feel?

Oh, it certainly adds to the retro feel... it just also makes it really awkward to stop playing and go back to. I imagine it'd be fairly simple to change; just have it either remember the furthest password you've got, or have it write the passwords in an external text file on the GP - so you still have to enter them (and it keeps the very retro feel), but you do at least have all the ones available that you should have. As opposed to, say, writing them on a school diary, and then finding its impossible to go back to lvl 15 when playing it next on holiday...

we plan another game which makes use of most of the engines functions... the team is allready organized... but a new game will not happen before 2005 and it will not be free. but you never know what happens...
