i heard you can get about two hours onto the gp , but so far i can fit only 1 episode of band of brothers( about 100 mb) how can i get the file size down while retaining good quality. THanks in advance :p

I've made some tests, but I couldn't playe them on the emu, coz if I launch GPCinema and load the AVI, I can see only the first frame and it hangs the emu.. Also I've tried the Gp32Divx, but I see only artifacts... My Italian GP will arrive in few days, but from my tests I've seen that xvid gives better quality and takes less space... I saw the vids in window$ media player.

When I can play them correctly I'll give my settings.

Technically you should be able to get 2 episodes of band of brothers per SMC; These settings are in VDub

Try Divx 4.12; 100kbs-128kbs, decimate by 3 frame rate, resize:320x200 precise bilinear, mp3 22,000hz 3kb/sec sound with vol. @ 150% and high quality checked.

This is also highly compatible, xvid - you need koepi's build from Joy GP

I have my settings on a temp. site I made yesterday. B)
I've had a small look at your settings and I've seen that it is for NTSC interleaved video (deinterlace filter, IVTC), this is quite a specific one. I think that settings should be more generic. Furthermore I think that most people encode from avi files which are not, generally, interleaved, so more genericity would certainly be useful. Particular issues should be separated.
I hope that my advice it does not offense you ;)

And I think that a sticky FAQ thread would be a nice thing too. It would contain some good settings for 3/4 and 16/9 videos, some pieces of advice on what to do on what particular issue, ... At least there should be a link to entware, but I don't think it is enough. The FAQ part would really be useful.
It would reduce the quantity of threads like this one.

No offence taken. ;)
Yeah, I keep in in there because i do a lot of DVD --> GPCinima conversions. It should be used with the guides, but I found is much more helpful than starting off from scratch.
