Get Your Tin Hats On

"Where do I fit the SNES cartridge into? I heard the GP32 can play them!"
Why that's simple. First you will need the uLtRa-1337-bit for your screwdriver. It's like the Gamebit, but much more 1337. Then, open the SNES-cartridge with the uLtRa-1337-bit. You will notice that the uLtRa-1337-bit does not actually screw the cartridge open, but creates a little electric current on your thumb. That is actually the informtaion you need. Just jam your SMC completely under your thumb nail and wait for 30 seconds (get it in there good and tight!). Make sure the SMC's contacts touch the fleshy part, NOT your nail! The cartridge will now be saved on your SMC. Before you pull it out from under your thumb, remember to touch something metallic, a magnet would be ideal, and to remoisten the contacts of your SMC. A little saliva would be great.

You'll be playing SNES games before you know it!

PS: You can buy the uLtRa-1337-bit from a guy named blipped. Just search for him using the forum's search function and drop him an E-Mail ;) He'll be delighted to send your own personal uLtRa-1337-bit to you.

Great, we're making fun of newbies before they even arrive

hey i'm not a n00b anymore, thats cool,

anyway, i don't care about n00bs just as long they don't piss me off with they're hazor talk and such.

We need to make a humongous searchable AQ (FAQ with out needing the question to be frequently asked) database for n00bs :)

If you consider yourself veterans, why do you insist on using the word "n00b"?
it makes me feel like a big man.

any way what we need is a "quick question" thread, so all the silly questions would be in one place so you wouldnt need to to write "read the read me" or "search function" you could just write "see page one"

Well im not a n00b now but I will be soon hopefully :D .

I doubt Ill be asking too many stupid questions though.

Well I have been frequenting this board for 6 months or so and have seen myself progress from really knowing very little to the point I am at now, where I sometimes am able to help others. I am aware that a lot of people know a lot more than me, but I'm damned if that's going to make me sheepish about participating in discussions etc here for fear of people raising a virtual eyebrow (or worse) at something I say.

This thread has given my confidence a bit of a bash as I would hope that people can be tolerant and mature about people who really are the fuel for the whole GP32 scene anyway, who wants a stagnant scene with no new users? I know just as well as the rest of us how annoying some questions can be but nobody forces you to read posts, and the idiocy of the question can often be hinted at in the title so don't click it (Moderators move it to a "Newbie" Section with a definative answer?). There's a responsibility on new users to abide by 'the rules' but there's an equal one on every one of us to resist being drawn into discussions which really degrade our own commmunity here at GP32X...

Stupid questions and playground folklore are the essence of the sort of "viral marketing" which can only drive people to talk and find out about the GP32 more and more, which must be good.

Just my thoughts, I know this thread was started in a light-hearted fashion anyway and I'm sure we are all painfully aware of when and where we were first "n00bs"...

...bracing MYSELF now for the flames...

most stupid threads start with " quick question" or " just want to know.

so by your logic we shouldn't read them finding out if they are idiot mumble or proper questions.

if you DANCE NUDE IN THE MOONLIGHT they (hopefully) will never do it again.

Why would anyone flame you? We're fooling around here, I wouldn't advise anyone asking for SNES games to jam any object, no matter what kind, under his thumbnail ;) We all want new participants in the community, we just are preparing to be asked foolish questions by people that don't really have a clue of anything ;) I have yet to flame a newbie, we'll see if someone gives me a reason anytime soon :D

Seriously, I don't think new members will be flamed. They will most likely catch one or two "Read the stickies, already been answered", but I wouldn't classify that as flaming. Let's just wait and see.

lets practice

"whats the best GBA emulator?"

"why is it so slow?"
ok...an anwser...

choices:

A. go screw yourself

B. there is a damned searh button on the top of the page you ftard!!!

C.there currently aren't any good gameboy emulators, and it is slow because it needs to be optimized to run on the gp32 ;) :D for future reference tho, there is a search button on the top of the page, it is a good idea to use that...you might get flamed if a lot of people ask the same question ;)

D. go to hell you awful awful bastard!!!!11111111
