Good news that Flubba has won the GP32 BLU, hopefully he starts to develop for it.

So what are some of the other updated GP32 entries not listed on the GBAX compo website?

CraigiX hinted at PDROMS hosting them...

Yay! New DEV maybe! I was hoping that Pirotic would win but its almost as good getting a new person in the scene!

New things for us:

Doom V10 - no screen bug and fixed sound.
GPWar - New Version of the Advance Wars Clone.
GP Final War - New version of the RTS.
Drunken Arcade Master - Update to Drunken Frogger with more stuff (I dunno).
Tunnel Game - New version of the 3D tunnel demo.

Hopefully the new guy can combine his sources with Blacks to make the ultimate PCEngine Emulator (his on GBA has CD iso support!) with CD and RF support.

We shall see about Flubba maybe he will mess around with the GP32. It would be nice at least if he ported his PC-engine emu, maybe his will run at FS0 at 133Mhz, and have save states.

That would be kind of ironic as the Zodiac guys have been trying to coax him to the Zodiac side by offering to shower him with a free donated Zodiac and Codewarrior etc ;)

Okay....

I just tried Drunken Arcade and its one of the craziest things in the world. Its a bunch of arcade classics like frogger, donkey kong, pong and more all mixed up where you have to survive the game as long as you can, kind of like wario ware. Just try it.. It could be a new classic!

Flubba is an extremily talented programmer, so you would never know :) , He could do brilliat things but I do remember him turning down a Z1 saying he wanted to focus on the GBA.

Theres quite a few entries that have already been updated since they were originally entered, I should have kept a list of them but I didnt :) More likely you have played any updated release if you keep an eye on the GP32 scene so we just listed the entries that were updated for the competition.

The extended competition was created with the idea that it would persuade (cant think of a better word) developers continue their hard work on their entries. This means you have updated games that may not have been released such as the very nice looking Tunnel game which is alot more playable than the original version that was entered.

I am a bit disappointed at some peoples comments on it being a poor competition. It seems a fairly regular thing that as soon as a competition is announced people *expect* emulators to be entered, its usually them the first to complain when they are not entered. GP32 is not just an emulator machine, it plays games as well you know ;)

That is insane, although it's his choice I guess.

I can't wait to get home to try Drunken Arcade:D

This is what Flubba himself said:

"Thank you!
Ofcourse I will stay with the GBA scene but it will be interesting to see how the GP32 works."

Congrats to the winner, the "near full speed" claim is a little far fetched - but it may just be the games i've tested it out on. very impressive GBA coding :)

*hat off*

I don't get it. What the hell is so great about the GBA??? Small washed out frontlit screen, very little RAM, weak CPU. Yes it has good commercial games but other than that? To blow off the Zodiac and GP32 for the GBA seems strange, to each his own I suppose

with that logic, why bother with a GP32 when you have the zodiac with better screen, more RAM etc etc :p

the GBA is lovely hardware, its low-powered but that it still has its charms, it can still do pro-snes quality graphics in the right hands - and for 2D games you can't really ask any more than that.

in terms of emulation, the GBA has some advantages over the GP32, its only the brute clock speed of the gp32's chip which makes it the overall winner.

not to mention its userbase is a fair bit larger than the gp32's (for now).

Hardware does not make a machine great, software does.
