GP32 How Fast Can You Get ? Gp32 Clockspeed Tester

Hi,

I would like to know also if there not an issue with the GP swi functions used by Mirko SDK ... I have completely reprogrammed this function in my programs, and I can reach 200Mhz with my function (trying 210MHz and I can see the GP32 freezing), and going through the swi as done with the Mirko SDK, the GP32 cannot go above 166MHz.

Is someone could confirm this fact ? ... also my test with my functions did not do a lot of hard test (just filling screens with some colors), so can't really say that my GP32 can support 200MHz with real stuff ...

Thanks

when i clicked the link i got an error , i think it was german , lthough it looked like a bandwidth exceeded kinda thing , ima look again an edit my post , can anyone send this to me ?
:edit 1:

didnt notice the file at the bottom of the post. ill test my gp32 now ^_^

EDIT 2:

my gp32

133 - no Sound = 50fps
133 - with sound= 46fps
160 - no sound = 60 fps
160 - With sound = 59 fps
164 - no sound = 62 fps
164 -with sound =59fps

168 = crash 1 second in
anything higher wont run :(

standard GP32

hi all...
I tested mine too and here are results:
with sound OFF
133: 49-50
166: 62
176: 66
184: 69
200: 75

With sound ON
133: 46
166: 59
176: 62
184: 67
200: 72

As you can see there is about 50% speed up between 133MHz and 200MHz
"only" 25% between 133MHz and 166MHz

200MHz in Osnes9x, fGEN32...would rock

see you

EDIT: this is a FLU with the voltage mod (made by myself :D )

The problem is not the swi call, its your cpu test, you need a big stress test, dma, sound, lcd, fast memcopy, and this all together...

If you cant get higher above 166Mhz,with this stress test, an emulator would also not run at a higher clockrate...

Hmm, it seems my gp only goes up to 166, at 168 it stays frozen on the menu.

BTW, what mod is this ? I really like it :p

Also washo, what was the max you could get before you modded your gp ?

Mine would seem to be able to handle 200 for the time being. With sound. 71fps.

Nice :)

BTW: any chance of contacting the guy who's making the Tunnel game, since your rendering of a tunnel seems to be faster than his, and could allow the game to move at the speeds it really needs to to be truly fun :)

Oooo, that song is catchy...Well, I've got the crappy GP32, it only overclocks to 160 without music, and 133 with music, At 160 with sound it freezes... :(

Just adding my findings......and there not good......Gp32 FLU running off 1800mah batteries.

133 with sound and light on 46 to 47

160 with sound and light on freezes up after about 2 seconds.

160 with sound and light off 58 for short while (5 secs) then freezes.

160 with no sound and light off 60 for short while (6 secs) then freezes.

as youve most likely guessed i cant get over 160.

hmmm that voltage mod is looking more appealing now :)

My GP have never rebootet when played at 166mhz but on 168 mhz or higher it does not even show anything just freezes..

Is this a bug?

Also why can't I get more fps than 59 or is it like vsync? (it doesn't mather if I put sound on or off get same fps, running at 166mhz.)

A short suggestion:

How about putting the runtime in hour:minute:second format in the top-left corner on the screen, to make it easier to tell how long the batteries hold up?

Greetings,
SvOlli

Hmm i got 166MHz maximum. Its a standart GP32, cheap AA Batteries and no mods on it.

Think its okay :) At 168 its make a reset.

YES!!!!!!
i´ve just overclocked to 220 mhz and it seems that my gp32_console can handle that :p

Benches >not modded GP32 non Flu

@220 mhz
w/o sound 82-83 fps
with sound 77-78 fps

btw mirko u are german are u?

Well I hope somebody offers a mod to get to this speed (220mhz) that would be amazing.
I'll wait until the tests are finished though (craigx tests that is)...
