GP32 How Fast Can You Get ? Gp32 Clockspeed Tester

Got my BLU today.

It does 168 at 60 with sound,

but any higher and it crashes, or at 200 resets.

I turned the lights off to see if it was a power thing, but to no effect.

Got it from GBAX, with the 166 upgrade option, I wonder if doing that fix stops higher clocking (Criag at GBAX will probably know)

BTW USE GBAX THEY ARE BRILLIANT, Ordered it on Thursday at 11pm, came today. Nice work

hmmm, I have a non flu or blu
is there a mod that could allow me over 166 mhz?
If so, where I NEED it
and would I be able to hit 220 with that mod or is there another mod for over 200?
I am stuck with 166 as the highest for now....

edit
just thought of this
How much juice goes into the 32 with current stock capacitor thingy?
How much can the 32's processor handle?
If we go to that limit, do you think we could OC past the new record of 220??
that would be awesome, plus I would like to considder some sort of heatsink idea..
Thought of this when my bro OC'd the procesor on his comp from 1.5 to 2.44 ghz
just a thought, maybe 250.......

YES!!!!!!
i´ve just overclocked to 220 mhz and it seems that my gp32_console can handle that :p

Benches >not modded GP32 non Flu

@220 mhz
w/o sound 82-83 fps
with sound 77-78 fps
Mine too, seems to be stable-ish at 220, though I haven't tried it for longer than 5 mins at the moment. Which is, perhaps, particularly amazing since 2 rechargeables provide about 0.6v less than 2 normal alkaline's, which ought to mean there's less voltage to the CPU (I think). And that often determines overclockability.

Anyway, ~81 fps no-sound; ~77fps with it :).

It did cross my mind that I was trying it in a fairly cool room though, so that might have had a bearing on how long it stayed not overheated (bearing in mind my last GP32 overclocked very comfortably to 166MHz - for about 15 minutes if the CPU was being stressed; then it overheated and the framebuffer got corrupted and the whole thing went down). In a warmer environment, I suspect I might not be so lucky.

The ARM processors run very cool so temperature isn't an issue. My GP32 can overclock up to 166MHz and I feel no heat clocking the CPU up that high. I tried 200 MHz and beyond, and it would give a few seconds before crashing. During that time, still no heat. While it is possible the plastic case is insulating, I doubt it, especially since the CPU is located on the back of the case where our hands are located.

The reason I mention heat was because I'm fairly sure it was an issue, as I say, on my old one - after the 15 mins and crash, if I set it to 166 again it'd crash in maybe 10 seconds. But after a while of running cool, I'd get another 15 mins or so. Though that could be just a one off with that particular GP; I suspect most aren't quite as much on the border as that one was.

Might be time to hexedit open snes to 220mhz then... will it run?

(yes i know its open source, but hex editing is far quicker)

maybe higher than 220 mhz i have a feeling that my gp32_console can do more
cause i have tested 220 mhz, 30 min i think without any crashs and stuff

GP32 BLU from GBAX

176 Mhz - 62 it doesn't matter with or without sound, its always 62

I tested with dying 2100 mAh and with fresh 2300 mAh, no more than 176 Mhz.

Im happy because when I ordered expected to be 166 and it perform 176. :)

166mhz on my current non-FLU, Freezes on anything above that. But, I have just ordered a BLU from Gbax, yay. Hopefully i will be able to top that with my new BLU, Will post my findings when it arrives.

mine has been running @ 200MHz for more than 90minuts (full sound and FLU ON with 2300NiMH)
I will now try 220...I hope it will be OK

see you

Osnes9x running at 220MHz would be cool :D

EDIT : It can clock at 220MHz
I will test my batteries now :)

Could somebody check the battery life at high overclocks like 220mhz?

My GP32 BLU doesn't go any higher than 166mhz.
So where was the place you could send your GP32 in the UK to get it overclocked (might ask if they could overclock mine so that it could get to 220+mhz)?

Hey Mr Mirko could you add settings all the way up to the theoretical maximum of 266mhz (add warnings for that though)?

Might be time to hexedit open snes to 220mhz then... will it run?

Somebody send an email to yoyofr about releaisng the next version of opensnes with many more extra overclock's... :D

i can go upto 220mhz without problems :D

i also encountered problems with the tester at some points, for example hold start for a while and it hangs

here's my updated list:

200 - 61-75FPS
204 - 73-77FPS
208 - 76-78FPS
212 - 45-80FPS (! big lag again with sound)
216 - 74-81FPS
220 - 77-83FPS (had it running for some mins again :)

not recommended for sound-supporting emulators:
188, 212

sorted by lowest fps (w/ sound):
40FPS - 188mhz
44FPS - 133mhz
45FPS - 212mhz
56FPS - 164mhz
57FPS - 160mhz
58FPS - 166mhz
59FPS - 168mhz
61FPS - 200mhz
62FPS - 172mhz, 176mhz
64FPS - 180mhz
65FPS - 192mhz
67FPS - 184mhz, 196mhz
73FPS - 204mhz
74FPS - 216mhz
76FPS - 208mhz
77FPS - 220mhz
