(saw comparisons in image quality to FLUs, was AMAZED, it's so CLEAR and bright!) :D How's the battery life? Affected any? Refresh rate hurt any by the new style of screen? Any odd angle issues? I must know!

Nah its all completely perfect apert from the screen which is still purple and fingerprinty.
However you can't see dust when the BLU is on really .
I am contemplating get a Glass Screen for mine (getting it added on at Mashmods).

Having never played on a GP32 before my BLU arrived on Thursday, I don't know how anybody could play with an unlit unit, because it is impossible to see with the light off.

The FLU and BLU both have an extra layer of screen making them much darker when the light is turned off than a regular GP32.

The blu hasn't got anything in front has it? It doesn't need to distribute the light with the back light.

Edit: But because it's not a reflective screen I'd have thought it would be darker without the light anyway.

THe BLU's screen is almost black with the light switched off (it is impossible to see).
Switching the light of the BLU off should only be used when listening to music etc...

Wow, really? You honestly cant see? So its not like the flu witch was decent with the light off then huh. Well, anyone got any battery results yet ( i know on gbax they estimate about 7 hours on 133)

As far as I know the original gp32 had a back reflective screen so it could be seen properl if it had a light shinig on it. I think the refelctive back was removed so that the backlight would work.

So it isnt the same when you turn the light off

I think....

Still, the questions still stand!

Battery life:confused:??

Refresh Rate/Response Time:confused:??

Screen Angle Issues Ala gamegear:confused:??

Well yesterday when I was sat on the bus it was hard to see the screen when the sun was blazing on it, if that means anything.

I haven't seen any problems with refresh rate.

Battery life is a mystery to me too...

Hm, I may keep my FLU for sunny days then

But can you still see the screen if you tilt the gp32 at an angle? I'm curious to see if backlighting tech has gotten past that.

Bah! I'm happy with my regular GP32. I can see the screen just fine, thanks.
Yeah me two. I can't see what the craze about all these lights are. The most important thing is battery life. Thats why I bought 2 non lt Gp32s. I get up to 12 hours if I have breaks.

I don't think its the brightness that is so impressive with the BLU so much as the improved colour stauration and contrast ratio.

For example, play R-Type in GPEngine - "space" is a washed out grey - on a BLU, its a deep black much more like a TV screen. The colours are also far better and not washed out.

I seriously think I'll not want to play my FLU very much once I've got used to my BLU.

The BLU does not have anything in front of the screen. The light distributor is in back, hence BACK light. The reason that it is dark with the light off is because it is what is called "transreflective" LCD. PDAs like the Zodiac etc use that and have the same dark screen W/O the light. It was really meant for PDAs where people would complain that their backlit only ones were unuseable outside.

Because the backing must let the back light through it can't be an opaque silver reflector like the FLU/non lit LCDs. So you lose some reflectivity, it is a trade off.

The best solution if you can swing it is to have a non-lit GP32 for lit places, and a BLU for darker areas. The non-lit GP32 has the brightest display in lit areas because it doesn't have the ribbed light distributor like the FLU which cuts a bit of light out. And the BLU has the best contrast and saturated colors when playing in the dark.
