PGS Windows 10 gaming handheld - GPD WIN competitor

My body has wear and tear beyond what is typical for my age. I try not to let it slow me down too much, as my body is only a way for me to get around until I can get a new one or die. Might as well make the best of it.

I am older than you. Specifics aren't important,
Really? Then why did you mention it? And how did you come to the conclusion that you in fact are older than me before I mentioned the year I was born in?

State of mind... well yeah. I think it is ok to joke about ones age, but not ok to feel superior to others because one "feels" or is older... as a matter of fact, older != wiser. It strongly depends on what you define as wise, too. Some people are plain stupid, wether they are 25 or 60 doesn't matter. Some people will have aquired impressive experience and knowledge, but then again it depends on what you define as relevant knowledge/experience. I'd argue that I know kids that have been born in countries in the middle of wars and have experienced things I will hopefully never experience and are thus wiser then their adult superiors regarding the value of life and basic human rights.

My body has all kinds of wear and tear, I've experienced things that noone here has experienced, obviously because having experienced the same thing is not possible as experiences are subjective. Same thing goes for age I guess. I feel older than myself a couple of years ago, so I can safely say that my experience has grown and my perspective on life has changed with time. Anything else would be an assumption based on nothing, because I have no fucking idea how old anybody else on here really is and what implications that actually had on them.

Why would someone assume that they are "older in their mind"? And what is that supposed to mean? Does that make you more suave? Are you more experienced? Are you more caught up in established views and opinions and are not able to change these anymore because you have become rusty? WTF is it supposed to tell me?

I think that actually is the definition of ageism. It's basically "I am a special snowflake but won't bother to enlighten the others as to why"...

Very tired of this shitty behaviour. I was tired of it when I was an adolescent, but I thought this would stop at some point. Still people keep assuming their age somehow sets them apart from me, even if it's just a few years.

EDIT: Argh... can't stop adding further points... anyway: if you are interested, there is an essay written by scott fitzgerald called "The Crack-Up" ("Der Knacks" for the German speakers) which debates the whole issue of ageing, identity and mortality, as well as the resulting constant crisis of identity (which some people with a limited horizon call midlife crisis).

An old friend of my parents, that just got and internet connection for the first time, whispered to me the question "Is it true that there is porn on the internet ?"
... I felt so wiser !! :D

Because of your comment, which is supposedly a joke, and which I misinterpreted at the time (as not a joke). If we are all playing here, don't get worked up.

I vaguely recall you mentioning it before. I don't publicly share specific personally identifiable details about myself anymore (just browse my posts). Of course, there is no reason to believe me or anyone else online. I could just as easily be a 9 year old.

Can't tell if you are being defensive or not. I don't recall anyone seriously suggesting that age, either way, makes one better (although employability can be problematic). I did make a generalization about generational differences, then moved immediately into a misanthropic comment/joke, where I started I am just like the rest of the naked apes.

I think this is supposed to be a tongue in cheek reference to stereotypes of older people, much like what you did. It seems some people are easily offended by such things. Perhaps those people should avoid bringing up those topics which offend them.

Unfortunately for those that believe otherwise, no one is special or unique. They are just insignificant things on or near (for now) an unimportant ball of dust. I also make intentionally offensive comments about other differences between humans, such as native English speakers from other countries, especially England. Or about my own countrymen, as a collective. Perhaps I should be scolded about those things.

Nah, shitty behaviour never goes away. All those things we hate that other humans do are similar or identical to what other animals do. We may try to delude ourselves into believing we are better, or superior, or different than other species, and simple observation proves that to be false. Our only hope is our own extinction. :p

It also seems I either don't know how to properly use smilies, or they are broken (I mean that I tried to avoid being seriously offensive by the use of a winky face, but apparently failed). Only reason I use them most of the time is to avoid hurting feelings...

So...should we return to the topic of fidget spinners (I was sincere with my previous request for affordable metal ones of decent quality), or maybe flinging mud and fecal matter at various subcultures (because, ya know, hipsters)?

Are there any new lies or news about the PGS?

@rygD I really enjoy most of your contributions. But sometimes you just rub me the wrong way. If I appear offended, that is because I care about what people say on a forum and I think that is what forums are for: debate. I enjoy a heated debate and strongly dislike having to shy away from it because of forum policies.

Because of your comment, which is supposedly a joke, and which I misinterpreted at the time (as not a joke). If we are all playing here, don't get worked up.
We are playing here, which is why I like to banter and debate things that interest me.

I can respect that, and yes I probably mentioned my age before.

Then I utterly misunderstood the tone of your posts.

As I said above, I will call people out on their statement if they offend me. Otherwise I might as well join the facebook crowd and post things about myself to myself all day. Rather then insinuating, that I should not bring up potentially offensive topics, you should maybe check your wording a little better. Especially because this is an international forum and a lot of members are not native English speakers (such as myself), or deal with some of your posts being misunderstood and then rectifying it by explaining/debating like we are doing right now.

It's all good. Tone was way more aggressive back on gp32x, have a look at some topics from 2006/2007.

I didn't know I rubbed you at all. I will try to keep my hands to myself.;)

Then I utterly misunderstood the tone of your posts.
Yeah, like I said, I misunderstood your one about kids and their toys or whatever it said, even with the post about an old man yelling at the clouds. You tried to make it obvious, and I still missed it. I sometimes try to make it unclear.

I try to push the line, sometimes intentionally into offensive areas (check the most recent bad joke I posted). When I do that it is nearly always not intended to be serious (although I do stupidly do it sometimes to make people think and question their own thoughts/beliefs and actions), and it is supposed to be obviously uncouth, such as insulting friends as a greeting. I didn't do any of that here, as I was more trying to go for the self-deprecating angle, as I explained. But hey, if I offended people I offended people, it happens. Regardless of how I feel, it is probably a better thing to call out perceived injustice rather than let it slide, so thanks.

I could check my wording...but I won't. Well, maybe a little better. With the exception of typos and errors caused by autocorrection, I am very particular about phrasing. Still, it is rather hypocritical to make an ageist comment/joke, then complain when people continue on about age, and get upset about ageism. Then again, hypocrisy definitely has a place, unless we don't wish to make things better for those that come after us (NOT ageism! :p). I do often try to explain myself, and am fine accepting responsibility when I cause confusion, intentional or not, and especially so when I fuck up. So, yeah, sorry if I made you, or anyone, feel bad, or like you were too young or old. Should I add a preemptive apology to my signature? I do sometimes consider trying E-Prime, however I feel it drains the flavor from communication, and would ruin some things. Damn, now I want to go look for poems and songs that have been "translated" to E-Prime.

And back in 06/07 my interaction with this scene was extremely limited and mostly took place in meatspace. I was following some homebrew stuff at the time, so there was a little overlap, but I don't recall lurking around gp32x much, or at all, until maybe the end of that period, whenever the Pandora first caught my attention (not sure where I was following all that). At the time I would have been significantly harsher, and not noticed it as much, due to people I interacted with (not an excuse).

But let's not make this another caring corner. Maybe it could be the uncaring corner, or the IDGAF gutter. :p Mods, we won't be bedding needing you here.

So no one here really likes spinners, huh? What about other little things designed to be messed with? Anyone know of any good newish (affordable) pocket sized puzzles?

Well we should get back to my plan to get all the money from, er um, make the best handheld Windows device ever. Yes that it.
Edit to remove double post

I was kinda opposed to this plan, but if any, um, excess funds from your totally legitimate plan to make that device were donated, anonymously, to ED for the Pyra, I could get behind it. We just need to drop off the money at this place, first. They also have couple arcade games in the corner.*

The best Windows devices get Linux installed on them and keep their Windows stickers and keys.

I have been accidentally double posting a lot lately. When I post the browser kinda hangs sometimes, so I think I missed the button when clicking and hit it again. Is this just on my end, or are other people also getting similar behaviour?

*I am referring to a laundromat, which sometimes have arcade games in them in the region I live in. I am talking about laundering money, not literally physically washing it. Yeah, bad joke, I know.

All windows sticker I come in contact with spontaneous get binned, although so does every other manufacturer sticker that's on a handlable surface (such as next to the trackpad on a laptop) as they eventually get gunky and have to be removed and taken to a laboratory for analysis. Windows keys are much more persistent, and while I could replace them on my mechanical keyboards I find a lot of Linux ones tacky too.

I typically try to avoid any logo or brand name on my things, and will sometimes remove or cover even those things that are hard to get rid of (one of the main smartphones I use has a piece of paper taped over "Motorola"). This is especially true with clothing and such, with a few notable exceptions. It is also true that sometimes case badges on laptops can get gooey, and the sticker with the Windows key can get difficult to read, our booth of those can just fall off.

So I got Star Trek and Linux stickers to cover almost all the branding on my current main laptop, including on the Windows key, and got a Linux case badge to replace the one I pulled off. Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either. At least those are things I like and support. I think I left the interior ThinkPad logo exposed for a similar reason. Since it is only the interior one, I am not using the back of the screen as a mini billboard for them. The ST sticker resembles the equipment labels from TNG/DS9/Voyager era stuff (I believe it most closely resembles the later Enterprise E labels), so more a nerdy nod to others with a stupid joke on it (Press any key...which one's the Any key?). I have a small one under the screen of my Pandora, sans joke. I really want to put one somewhere on my Pyra where it won't get damaged, if I can find such a spot.

PGS lives
Which will launch first. The PGS , Smach Z , PYRA or GPD's 1 billionth product ?

That bottom screen looks WAY too small to be practicably useable. The Dot pitch would have to be miniscule. Unless Windows is running a second screen at like a 320x240 resolution maybe?

Hm, it seems they changed their original idea regarding the size.
This looks a LOT more reasonable in size for what they plan to put in there. Though I'm not sure exactly... where do they plan to put the battery..?

I'm not sure the size is that different. The hinge mechanism is completely different, and is perhaps what's causing the cover to lift up on the right hand shot, and doesn't expose as much of the bottom panel so they've had to swap out what looks like a 4:3 bottom screen for a 16:9 one of the same width (and therefore smaller). I guess where they've hidden that battery with the hinge mechanism spearing into the case like that is still a good question though.

They're original design was a lot smaller. if I remember correctly, they could've never fit such fans in there.
