Okay, we all know that when you bought the GP32, internet capability was expected, and unfortuantley when I bought the GP32 I expected it to have it. That was one of the main reasons I bought it. Well, anyway..... is there a way to let the GP32 have internet capablity? I know there is cell phone cables but only for Korean phones. THere are also many wireless USB internet things, but you need software etc. Does anyone think there is a way to create a cable to connect the GP32 to a cell phone or create some kind of wireless internet? I mean if we can create complex emulators and things like that, it must be possible to make an internet browser or something. Are you following me? I know it sounds hard to do, and I would do it if I had knowlegde of technical things. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Please, I hope someone has some suggestions. THanks a lot everybody, you are a great help. :D

I bet you could do something like make a microphone that would listen to the earphone on a cell phone, and you just hook up the earphone to the GP32 that way, make some sound recognition software that would de-cipher all those tones, and give them to a HTML reader, then all you would have to do is dial your ISP's number into the cellphone (oh, you would also need a speaker that would sen data into the phone's microphone so it can upload). It would be hard to do that, but I think it would work.

Except that you'd lose definition on the signal through producing it with a microphone not normally meant for computer noises...

...a better idea would be to mod a phone-cable rather than the speaker and then do the same sort of thing. Of course, then there's not much point in having it in the first place - might as well use a PC.

A slightly better idea might be to extend on the possibility of plugging the RF unit into the PC, get another for the GP32, and then use that for net access via the PC's already existing connection. Or something.

Or of course simply use a GPRS phone instead of the PC and have a direct connection.

Ok im clutching at straws here. But does that mean in some remote future utopia. My GP32 will be able to access the net via wireless router? If so are any emulators/commercial games considering combining this into wireless internet 2+ player games? If so im off to make wild monkey lovin to my GP then build a time machine.

Yeah, it'd probably be easier to do than quick internet access lol

Come one, someone has to know if there's a way.......maybe the RF module could be used like a Bluetooth thing, I don't know. Please someone must know how to make a internet for the GP32 work!

I sure as hell didn't. Actually read GBAx's review, or look into the gp32, and you'll quickly find out it's hard to do internet stuff. The GPi has been designed for that sort of thing, I think.

My votes goes to Tobriand, when do we start work on a proto?

Probably when someone who knows anything at all about modding cables and writing drivers comes along...

WHat we'd need would be (and I state at this stage that I couldn't do it):

1) An adapter for EXT --> Serial or EXT --> USB; preferably the latter since serial ports are rapidly being excluded from motherboards atm. But it'd have to be relatively simple either to make, or to come across, or there'd be no GP users online to play against anyway.

2) A set of drivers to let the computer know what on earth it had just had forcibly inserted into its socket, thus stopping it from panicking and going into digital denial of any device there.

3) A GP32 emulator that would be compatible with the driver written (or possibly contain it), and would register as all the other gp32s on GPNet (anyone got any better ideas?) to any non-modded GP32 - we wouldn't want to mod the thing itself since no-one would want to risk ripping theirs apart to try the same thing. This is also a bonus to using the RF module over and above a USB cable connection - no need to write GP-based drivers; just a normal multiplayer Lib.

The 2nd and 3rd things could possibly be dumped under the same thing, but that's what I can see us needing. Or something along those lines.

As I said, I'm shite at electronics (just about handle a soldering iron without melting something :) ) and even worse at programing (vis a vis - I can't) so I wouldn't be able to do it. Still - the roadmap's there for anyone to follow. Or any alternative ones, of course...

Another idea, BTW, would be to have the emu able to act as a relay station - i.e. have one machine connected to the Net, and then relay the signal from outside the range of the RF unit to other units strategically placed about everyone's houses; basically a very slow PC network at the same time (somewhat less than Serial).

If there's any USB network devices around that use the same frequency as the RF unit, they might be worth looking into, too. They'll probably have more range than your standard thing.

We could, of course, ask Gamepark if they'd produce a stand-alone RF unit to make this sort of thing more feasible, but I doubt they would.
