If under Windows XP Home, run as a Limited user and use "runas.exe" to run programs which must be run as an Administrator. Under XP Pro, run as a "Power User". This will stop a lot of spyware, since it won't be allowed to copy itself to the Windows folder, nor edit any registry entries. If it does manage to infect itself, it will be only for that one account.

im one of those poor gits that shares a single user liscense for windows 98 (but dont tell anyone)
