i read on the french translation web site, that the game will be release soon in english
is it true ??

to be honnest this is a really old "news" and finaly, obviously, it seems that GamePark will never release a English translated version of ASR unfortunalty :(
imo...

so all our hope must be put on Seijuro & Lethe who can surely success to translate the game together if they team up ;)

i would be glad help to once i can get my hands on a copy of asr... ive searched everywhere but theyre all sold out... :(

drat! even if im willing to pay, i cant get one.

I have the SMC boxed ASR I picked up a couple years ago; I can pop it into my card reader and see whats there. However, I would expect it to be encrypted to the card for copy protection.

I don't know much about card encryption as I never needed to look into it; if the whole file is encrypted to the SMC then it would take work to decrypt it; if its just signed somehow, so the OS of the GP32 can verify the signature maps to the SMC, then it would be easy to find the text.. but difficult to put the changed text back.

So without thinking about it much, I'd ask the French guys how they did it; ie: Did they crack it, so that they're essentially playing ASR on a different SMC? Or did they just modify the file from their encrypted SMC? (If that is the case, then its not really encrypted.. just some signature or the like in the header or something.)

If its just a matter of editting the fxe or whathaveyou, then I can get it form mine perhaps, but I'm worried about the piracy implication of course. /me being a public figure and all :) If thats all there is to it, I could perhaps extrract the text from it..

yea if you could jsut send me the text file i could translate it. i tried hex editing myself but its so confusing.

if i buy the game off you would i be able to play it on my gp32? if this is a dumb question flame me but with all this encryption stuff im just wondering.

I have saw cracked versions of it before. It would hardly hurt if 1 person took a cracked version, I mean he is helping out the rest of us.

Yeas, but if you can't get it anywhere else...

I can send you the .dat file which I have transferred from my ASR boxed copy onto my machine if you are interested.

for hacking the text only the .dat file is needed, and without the other files youre not able to play the game, so i dont think it hurts anyone if only the .dat file is spread to the translaters.

edit: and then you can translate the .dat file and make it as a download ... okay, its not very legal but noone can do anythign with only a .dat file, so that person would need to buy the game. again, theres no need to modify the .gxe and the other files.

yes i already read some tutorials on romhacking. wildcat, can you send me the .dat file so i can look at it?

my email is l33tl33@yahoo.com

nvm wildcat said the file is 30 mb so its too big to send over the email. anyone know a way to send big files to someone over the net? or can you use winrar to break it into little pieces

Upload it to a server and download it.

Wildcat, if you don't have a free server, just PM me and I'll create you a temporary account for uploading the dat-file :)

Disting the .dat file is technically illegal, but for when you want to distribute a modified dat file, its legally okay to send a patch file; ie: The englis translation you make is your own work, but you can't legally dist their .dat file components, so unless you translate it 100% you can't legally dist it..

However, you can distributre a patch file; ie: A file that describes what to do to the file to make it translated, and a little program to apply the changes, etc.

But anyway, burn that bridge when you get that far :)

Guys why don't you just start translating a gp32 asr rom?Youwould probably be allowed to do it for a benevolent job and ,even if not, gamepark wont know about it coz they dont seem to care of the gp32_console ...
