History Of The Gp32

It came it saw it conquered .

well... i wouldnt say that. it sorta crept up on me without me knowing. it was made around 2-3 years ago by the company gamepark and was supposedly the most powerful handheld (it still is but not for long (psp, nintendo ds)). the company also made a new console called the gpi and it even showed up on e3 but its production was cancelled. there are rumors of a new system called gp64.

thats all i know. all the info on softwares are on this site

Didn't the GP32 fair badly, because of the lack of decent games, until somebody hacked a freelancher. Or am I getting mixed up?

the free launcher isnt hacked!

Gamepark encourages the homebrew comunity.

thats why the gp32 is open source.

I thought the first version of it were, until Gamepark Saw the commertial benefits of the home brew community. I know the curent versions of it are sanctioned.

Gamepark, being gamepark, didn't even realise the system had the potential for open source lovelyness. It wasn't until homebrew games etc. popped up that they released freelauncher. I think any way.

I beg to differ on that one. Where is the GP32 open source? I haven't seen any internals on the hardware from GamePark, nor did I ever see an open source SDK, so where is the GP32 open source? They don't even manage to release a binary version of the SDK that's compatible to a recent gcc. Just being able to run self-compiled code without any expensive addon doesn't make it open source at all.

They support the homebrew community, which isn't all open source in itself.

Just my 2 cents.

Greetings,
SvOlli

I have seen the SDK sources for download before so they must have been released, I think GP had a lot more planned for the open source thing had the console taken off like they had hoped.

Since it didn't they didn't bother to put in anymore effort on the homebrew side.

The fact they released an SDK and documents on the system is unique in itself for a console, maybe for the GP32-2 they will go one better.

I was really looking for an indepth look at the history and its time line,

When was it built?
Who built it?
How long was it out?
Who made it happen?

Thanks.

Lol I didn't expect anyone to actually talk about the I came I saw I conquered thing :). It was just suppose to be that the Gp32 came, it saw what was happening, and it conquered the homebrew community. BOY IM TOO SYMBOLIC!
