Hi there, i`m new to the forum and the gp32.

I just want to know what the best SNES is, and if I can play my fav games on it.
I wanna play Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana/Evermore, Terranigma.
Do I need to overclock it for playing SNES games (i think i have to but just going for sure)

And, second, does anyone have any experience with ScummVM for the gp32? I want to know if it runs good and which of my old adventures I can play on it (i own all Lucas Arts adventures)

Yeah, so thats all for now, I think.
Thanks.

snes emulation isnt perfect. with sound it runs slow even with overclocking and all those games are pretty slow except terranigma

the osnes9x one thats been released not to long ago
( by yoyo )
is the best snes emu out
with FS 1 and no sound its a great emu, just some games need the extra 2 buttons, and it sucks not havin them, but we cant change that

Secret of mana is fine without sound (overclocked to 150mhz) Transpency can be a problem though with BGs

I've almost completed Terranigma and I can say it runs fine on 166MHz on FS 1/2 (with sound of course)...check out the Terranigma Review in the Review section, I explain it in more detail there. Reviews sometimes have hints on what the performance is like on the GP32. Chrono Trigger is reported to work OK at 166MHz.

ScummVM from what I've seen with Monkey Island 1+2 is very very playable. The only minor gripe at the moment is that the sound has a slight crackle to it sometimes. Aside from that it really is pretty awesome.

Thanks!
Great community here!
So, what about Indy4 - FoA, does it run properly?
And I found out about this special ScummVM for DotT, so this must run as well, or doesn`t it?

My next question is, how do you overclock the gp32? Is it hardware based, so do I have to open the gp32 or are there just some bios options which i have to change?
And how do I know how high I can clock it?

I believe the first release of scummvm on the gp was DOTT only, the newer version runs loads more, I'm unsure of wether Indy is compatible, you should have a flick through the main page...

as far as overclocking goes, how high depends on chance, some units go higher than others...we'll call it natural variation. You can buy units that are guaranteed to clock to certain speeds...check out www.gbax.com

overclocking is achieved by simple menu options in most emulators and the overclock lasts for the duration of that "session" in that emu, every time you switch on your gp it reverts to the default clock speed. B)

DOTT works great on the most recent ScummVM. My only gripe is the cursor is quite slow moving around, but perhaps it can be sped up somehow? Next time I'll try making the sound driver = null and see if that has any effect.

I also tried out today Sam & Max (works great, but with same slow cursor), and Maniac Mansion (had some pallette issues and seemed buggy, but it may be due to my source files).

Wow this is a really cool feature!!! I never thought it would be that easy!!!
I can`t wait to get my hands on my gp32 i ordered last night on ebay!!!!!!!!!

EDIT Oh just another question: I have a usb card reader/writer, so can i use this one to copy the files to the smc, or do i have to use the gp2pc link cable? I`ve read about all those file managers and copy utilities, do they work with a card reader/writer?
This would save a lot of battery power.

You can format your card your manually or just make the file folders GAME, GPMM, MP3, ETC, GPSYS with your card reader. I, after that, prefer using the card reader because it is signifiganty faster, but it still isn't required. ;)

EDIT: You don't any additional software to use the card reader. Just put on files as you normally would and then put the card into the GP32. :)

Indy Fate of Atlantis works with ScummVM it's just the cursor is very slow which can be irritating. Same goes for Sam and Max.
