yesterday i encoded the movie'I ROBOT' for my gp32 with the virtual dub mpeg2 version.

all moved good but when i tryed to load the 122 mb movie on my gp32 (with gpdrive), there appeared an error.

-a/c device error (was it an a/c?? or a/b? don't know sorry! but it was an error)

and now i tryed it with my card reader because i thought the gp32 can't load files with this size.

but after 6 min, the same error appeared.

what's the problem??? i don't know. please help me
because i want this movie on my gp32!! :(

your sig is half a megabyte big, please remove that gif, not everyone has DSL <_<

ah and try to format your smc with eurofw or pacrom etc. BUT NOT WITH WINDOWS ! (cause it formats in fat32 style, but gp32 isnt that)
then load gpcinema + movie on it again and it should work...

I think (Not sure) that it's 2 MBs too big. This is because of the way an SMC is built up. If I remember correctly, you have 120MBs at your disposal.

The SMC Can only fit 122MB onto it or something... So Im guessing your File is 122.8MB or something

So ReCompress it but make it so that its 121mb Big :p

EDIT damn u Tristan, you beat me by a few seconds, but I think the SMC Size is 122mb not 120mb :p

I've fitted 124mb movies on my SMC before, so it should be possible, I think. Or 122 and GPAdvance + demos or something. Close to the boundary at any rate. It may, of course, be that your SMC is getting old and has lost some capacity. Try reformatting and scanning for bad blocks as suggested...

Oh, and Windows doesn't do it as Fat32; the drive is too small, so it defaults to either Fat16 or Fat12; and I think Fat12. What it does do is format it with a cluster size of 2kb as opposed to 8kb - which in theory should be better (smaller clusters mean small files take up less space, and theoreticallty the SMC lasts longer too, since there is less redundant data written), but in practice induces some incompatibilities.

Also try transferring by PC-Link, long as it will take, just to see if it is in fact an error with your PC's USB driver; I doubt it'll work, but there's a chance. It will definately take an age, though. Say, 40 mins or so...

Otherwise, simply hack some of the movie off; if its that close to the boundary, it's going to be in the region of maybe 30 secs from the start or end anyway, which may well be credits. Not the best solution perhaps, but it'll work...

Oh yea, I think it is 124mb that you can fit on a SMC .... woops

thx for your help. :)

that's a bit queer. the size is 122mb but beside it there you can read an other size in parenthesis: 128,123mb!!!

so the used size on the smc is bigger then the real size. isn't it?
i think so...

AN other question: my smc has 128mb
but now it has just 124 mb!! i formated it with eurofm and pacrom and at least with the pc-link program. but i could get the space back. is it possible to get it back?

the storage companys are cheeting, they say 1mb=1000kb 1gb=1000mb and so on, that makes the diffrence.
also for your movie, use a card reader, pclink and gigadrive dont like big files for me. and try cutting it down to 120mb and try again

Actually My Smc is 127mb. Mines a Samsung one, maybe each make's got a slightly different size
