I was in my local Gamestation and they had a pretty good bundle going. But I'll probably use it more for Divx than for games. (Although I know that some of the games are outstanding). So just wanted to know if the Dreamcast Divx player(s) were any good and would I have to re-encode my legally obtained films??

its pretty much the same as gpcinema, but it supports divx5 if iam right
Yeah, it's not picky about what build of xvid or divx it uses. It's better than the gp if you're careful though. I only have bruce almighty done I think. It's nice that it autoboots though. I use my ps2 for divx instead now.

Could someone point me in the right direction for an easy to understand guide on making Divx movies for the DC?
I tried a lot of guides, but I get lost, think Im missing something
I would also like to know what settings yall use in VDub for your DC divx players
SO...
whats the divx play I should use
How do I get the movie to play on their ( burning it and all dosnt have to be self boot, but would like it )
whats your VDub settings and hows the quality?
Thx

also, is there a good movie viewer on the PSOne?

Google it. Reality player I think it is. I believe it has HD support now.

Liz: Go for an Xbox, better than PS2 in most ways.

I wish I could use Google but BP (where I currently am) banned it or its blocked. I will check it out when I get home for sure.

As for Xbox vs PS2 - there is so many things for and against each console. It will be hard to decide. I'm sure I'll be starting a thread in November time about this ;)

Also @ Octavious; there is a movie player for PS One. Although you have to re-encode your .avi or mpeg to the PSX format. I will try and post a link to the guide later.

I think it is a VCD player for PSone.

The new PStwo has no HD slot, so if I was you I would buy a PS2 before stocks run out.

You will always be able to get them second hand (and probably new for a while to come).

Dreamcast DIVX I remember being picky (also the resolution was crap; it fucked up my subtitles).

I can't get Google at work so I can't help searching for you. But try looking for "STR" as a file format and how you convert an avi to this format. Bear in mind from what I've read it only supports uncompressed avi's (so that might mean Divx being excluded).

IMO ps2 doesn't need to be slimmed, X-box on the other hand...well i'll just put it this way: Tons o' fun :p
About watching divx: I read somewhere that using video players on DC will burn your unit out faster, maybe thats just vcd though.

To be honest, I dont give a shite about the size of them, as long as they work well. My xbox is constantly moving between rooms anyway :p
