i have a few requests...

does anyone know of a demo, or demos, that really show off the gp32s 3d capabilities.... id like to see what this thing can do.

could i get a list of all the commercial software releases

where is the absolute cheapest place i can buy a brand new gp32?

where is the detailed specs for this system? i dont really get why there are so many different speeds of the arm cpu in the system, can someone explain why?

Cheapest is probably Lik-Sang.

As for the different speeds, the official speed of the GP32 is up to 133 mhz I believe, but most can go above that (overclocking). As for the reason why some chips will go to 250 mhz, while some wont even go past 133, this is just the way chips behave. The same is true for, for instance, pentium chips. Intel makes them all the same, then tests which ones perform better than others, and stamps a higher marking on them and sells em for more than the ones that don't do so well.

I don't know about the games list, sorry.

You could also take a look at the Yeti3D engine, which is somewhat faster than Quake, iirc, though perhaps a little less versatile. It hasn't really been used as yet, though I believe it is at the heart of the (now renamed) Medal of Honour GP that a team is working on. There is a demo that comes with it that you could try out, but I don't know where to get it from.

There's also a .md2 or .mdf2 (can't remember which) dancing demon demo put out by Thor (rtb7) a while back in the Beta testers section. However, I do not believe he is working on it anymore; I could be wrong though. I read somewhere that he had quit the scene some time back due to people claiming that the brilliant KoF 91 wasn't any good and slating him for it; on the other hand he recently posted in the GPChess thread, so who knows. Thor, feel free to give me a slap if I'm wrong. Indeed, I'd be grateful if you would lol!

You could also take a glance at GoatPark32 which has some very very nice Voxel rendering in it from over a year back well before most 3D stuff had been remotely done (barring Doom, which many claim doesn't count on account of not being "true" 3D). In addition, there's a 1-track "racing" (or at least, driving) demo put out by the same author - Mithris - a while back, which demonstrates some more nice 3D stuff. And not to forget "15 day crap" from the first 15 day competition. Which is untextured, but fast and very playable.

Other than that? I believe there have been a few games released on GP32spain recently which are done in pseudo3D (a sports game and a Tron-like one), but I haven't actually tried them.

Or of course, there's a GBA 3D demo which you could run on GPAdvance at easily full speed. If you get hold of a very very early version, in fact, you'll find it runs at 10x the speed of its rate on GBA hardware. Which is impressive perhaps.

Beyond those, I can't think of any. If I come up with any I'll post again. Most impressive are Quake, Yeti3D, and GoatPark32, imo, though.

to bad there are no actual yeti 3d games, but the engine is still worked on and very advanced, you can see some "newer"/not so new screens at hookas tz interview http://www3.telus.net/public/hooka/thunderz.html also the qbix team interview (also by the exelent hooka) gives some info about 3d capability http://www3.telus.net/public/hooka/qbix.html

you may also want to see mithris's nice 3d rally thingee http://gp32.misantrop.org/screens.html
some deoms also use 3d look at http://www.pdroms.de/roms.php?system=GP32&typ=Demos&first=0

tunnel game 3d by SDW also have 3d http://15days.gp32emu.com/

well and dont forget quake&doom (and mods for them) thiey give the biggest 3d game lib you can find some doom wads at http://falken80.gp32news.com/download.htm

I live in the USA, but the GP32 system seems to high for me... I already have a GBASP+XRom512, I guess I'm gonna wait til the DS comes out. If I had a job I would definetly get a GP32, but I'm runnin' low on doe'. Thanks anyways, I'll always have Geepee32 to play the homebrew games though....

@foog: I wouldn't get the gp32 on just it's 3d capabilities if that's what floats your boat. The best is Doom and Quake at the moment but things are progressing.
Basically what I'm trying to say (and I think people wil aggree here) most people buy the GP32 for emulation. So if there's a console you really love, see if it's emulated on the GP32, or just ask in this thread! :p
