How long after the release of the DS do you think we will see the first post here asking if the GP32 can emulate the DS??

PLACE BETS NOW!!!

I say it will be 15 days.

well, thinking about it if one is started to be deleveloped now then if the gp64 is released then maybe that could emulate it at full speed, the touch pad would be a bit difficult though (based upon compatiible architecture)

:D 14 days

but another question, ds related, too:

are there any info's about API's for the new handhelds (PSP, DS, Gizmondo)? can we hope for a coding scene, similar to the gp32?

i think, the PSP would be the best platform, but afaik, the UMD's the PSP will use are read-only :(

so, what about the gizmondo? and the DS?

The real question is, how long before the DS can emulate the GP32 <- its simple, never, and it dont have to, ds uses arm's and the fastest it have is 87mhz if iam right, so it could map a gp with 80mhz, theoretical, the slower cpu could handle the emulation stuff like smc display and stuff.

but thats all bullshit, none of both will ever emulate the other.

Two processors; one at 33MHz, the other at 67Mhz. 4MB of RAM. Two screens of 256x192 pixels.

I may be wrong, but that doesn't really sound very impressive for emulation does it?

oh shit i wanted to place my bet, that it is asked today, but sam said it before my bet placing... :(

How long till it's said? Well, it's obviously already been suggested...

But in my opinion, we'll never see it. the two screens wouldn't fit on GP32, and there's no way the GP could handle the 3D graphics of the NDS. But that doesn't matter to me. I'm happy with my classic 8 and 16 bit consoles and quite possibly GBA on my GamePark.

no it dont, it sounds good for games made for it, but for emulation it sucks, 256x192 is WAY to low , donwsaling looks ugly, 4mb ram isnt tht much but it "should" be ok couse the carts are fast enugh to load the roms direcktly from it, the two prozessors arent to good for emulation, one fast prozessor is better for that, i dont think the ds is in anyway better for emulation then the gp is

you dont even need to.

looking at the launch titles, there once again remakes of nitendo classics.

With a few exceptions which are obviously welcome.

no problem you just use the memory sticks as your storage.

The DS will be great for homebrew when they crack it, as when you turn it on you can go to a menu where you can select an option that allows you to download something wirelessly, be that a demo, Pokemon or whatever else-this leads me to believe the DS has a considerable bit of onboard memory.

Nintendo have already said that they will be supporting wireless home networks for net play through a router. I'm guessing that this will be hacked, and homebrew can be sent through the router instead.

Also, as soon as the hackers make re-writable DS cards, you'll be sending 'roms' (or whatever the term is) for that way too.

We'll be flashing our DS firmware too.

Then again, 16.78MHz, one 240x160 pixels screen, 256 Kbytes RAM doesn't sound very impressive for emulation, yet that's what the GBA has, and it has almost as good emulation as the GP32 (minus 16 bit consoles).

Yeah How Come the gba can do that?

BTW will the gba be able to emulate the DS? ;)
It has graphics chips and such that help it. And yes.

The DS has two screens, so that means any handheld emulation of the DS would have to be split-screen, right? The GBA's screen is rather tiny. Think of trying to view DS games on a split-screen... <_<
