Since it’s an ARM CPU, does anyone know if the PYRA or any of the other handhelds they sel run Raspian/Raspian lite?

Raspbian is Debian arm modified to run on raspberry pi. Default pyra os is also modified Debian arm.
I don't see any logical reason to run raspbian on pyra.

1. Because I can
2. Because I was thinking of running pwnagotchi on it.

1. Let us know when you do that.
2. That can run on any Linux device with WiFi that supports monitor mode ( from pwnagotchi installation guide)

There has been varying degrees of success with the Linux install method.
Using the pwnagotchi raspian lite img on an Micro SD has been pretty much foolproof.

I would be very surprised if Raspbian works out-of-the-box on a Pyra. Raspbian has lots of hardware-specific tweaks for Raspberry Pi hardware. The Pyra has different hardware, and needs different tweaks.

You could (in theory) develop a version of Raspbian that runs on a Pyra - but it would be an absurd waste of time. The end result would be just the same as the Debian image we already have!

If you do struggle to install a specific application, a polite request for help on these boards will go along way.

yeah you would need to at the very least get the Pyra's letux kernel shoed into the raspbian image, but even then raspbian has some very hardware specific changes in the rootfs. it's likely easier to just install the raspbian version of this program on our version of debain.
