Official Psp Release And Omg

Honestly, I preordered a DS and am not canceling my order. Why? Because the DS has a good lineup of quality games that I enjoy a whole lot more than Sony's stuff. I'll admit that Grand Theft Auto is fun, but it isn't even coming out at the time of release. If I want to play home games, I'll play them at home, thank you very much. :p

And by the way, the DS is the best selling system in Japan right now.

I think I read in an interview with the lead psp designer that the firmware is upgradable, maybe a hack can be found to 'upgrade' the firmware to make it run homebrew games, emulators and such from memory stick :)

Like sony would be that stupid...

Looks to me that what is needed is some way to burn a UMD and a Mod Chip. Not likely.

ive pre ordered 2 ds`s and 2 psp`s. Psp is goin to well beat the ds and i bet the psp will have a mod chip or somethin for it within the first year.

Ugh.. This absolutely sucks. I don't know what you people think, but Nintendo-made games are some of the best, even today. They are the last remaining GAME company. They only make games, and they make games well. Sony and Microsoft do not make games, and their first-party games are less than impressive. If Sony takes over, what will we be left with? Something like GTA9 and GT7, and various other FPSs that are exactly the same. NO Mario, NO Zelda, NO Metroid. Just a bunch of crap games that are "mature" and "cool." If Nintendo falls, there won't be any life left in the industry. Just gray. For Sony and Microsoft, the Playstation and the X-Box are just business ventures. For Nintendo, games run the show. Who do you think will have more dedication?

It just sickens me that one of the best gaming companies in the world will be gone just because everyone's a graphic whore.

I agree. :D The only true GAME company nowadays is Nintendo. They have and always will be in our hearts. Oh, by the the way I just ordered 2 PSP's too. JK

Battery life is extremely important. I have a GameGear and I was SO disappointed when I first played it... and then had to stop because the batteries almost instantly after starting. The PSP helps itself a little by having a rechargable battery, but that's still not acceptable. The DS is junk in my opinion; having been an avid Nintendo fan for YEARS, I'm very disappointed in their decision to release this thing. The two screens are both TINY, and I see nothing interesting being done with them that couldn't be done with one... and I would much rather have a analog stick than a touch screen.

I'm leaning towards PSP currently, but I'm going to wait it out for a while and see if the software warrants purchasing it (though I must admit, that price is very appealing...).

well, why is every one like, Nintendos gonna die, their the only GAME company?
neither buisness will fail
and yes , ur right, It only costs a small handful for the unit to be made, its all how buisness works these days
anyways, 4-6 hours and that bad guys
are you gonna play it more than that in one day?
lets see, you sleep 7 hours about
work 8
you arnt gonna spend every spare second on it, just recharge it overnight
its not like ur killin the batteries ( GP32!!! ) thats that I hate about our machine, damn AA's
anyways
Im getin a PSP
can anyone answer my previous questions?
and also this, since it has 802.11 could I play a mutli-player game with my friends at school in differant rooms?
that would rock!!!
I know DS could do this, but franly, DS games for now are all just N64 games remade
Dont get me wrong, I love the N ( have 3 copies of ALL NES Megaman games , and 2 NES's )
and a 64, and a SNES, and a gba ( but I dont have any games for it lol )
o ya, I am a graphics whore, becuase the games that will rock are Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, and many more
Sony just has a more appealing lineup to me, thats it

The PSP will not be out be out for Christmas in the US, it's MARCH 2005. This could seriously hurt it in the long run especially if the games (or even just the UMD movies for that matter) are region encoded. Since the average person won't want to import, the DS seems to get the head start in the handheld wars, giving the edge to Nintendo.

SOmewhere it was said if the DS failed the gameboy 2 would come out next year and if it didnt they woul delay the release of it.So nintendo wouldnt DIE if the DS failed. The DS will not fail though cause the sony is junk.

Don't worry about Nintendo, they're not as big a company as Sony so they don't have to sell as many units to consider it a success. The PSX outsold the N64 by god knows how much but Nintendo still made a lot of money.

The DS games look great and there are more than enough Nintendo fans to keep it alive. It still looks like you need to be at a table to play it though.

I worry about the PSPs battery life, it may start off as four hours but it'll start creeping down and how many times would you be willing to replace the battery?

Octavious: "its not like ur killin the batteries ( GP32!!! ) thats that I hate about our machine, damn AA's" Cant you just use rechargeables in the gp32? I dont own one so dont know but surely you can or is the voltage not enough, ie 1.2V per AA instead of 1.5 ?

ah good thanks :) Trying to work out whether to get a creative muvo2 mp3 player, a gp32 or wait and save a bit more and get a psp. Gp32 has plus point that i have loads of AA rechargeables and love pc engine games so thats winning atm :)

Its just anoying to have to take out batteries and swap them, recharge, when I could just plug it in at night
cant wait for the PSP , a headset for it , and havin a PSP LAN party!

How long do say 2000mah rechargeables last in the gp32?

Not read much about psp, just know it looks great. Will you be able to encode movies/simpsons episodes etc to whatever format it needs on your pc then copy them to a memory stick to view do you think like you can on the gp32 or will you only be able to buy the films on the psp's own special media (which will suck if true)

hhhmmm, Well what will be released if Nintendo "Takes Over" (Like you are saying Sony will)?? if Nintendo take over, all we will have is Mario games all the time which are technically the same. Dont get me wrong, I like mario 64 and the SNES / NES Marios, But I would rather play GTA9 and GT7 (If there ever will be one)

Sony Is gonna kick Nintendos ass :p... who cares if its battery life is 4 - 6 hours, I wouldnt like to take it out the house longer than that :)
