I'm thinking of getting a GP32 in the near future but I'm a little concerned on how exactly you can play SNES or Megadrive games with only A and B buttons and the trigger buttons? Does this mean that certain games are impossible to play even if it has been emulated well?

Some emulators use Select-Button too

Genesis is no big deal as you can use one of the shoulder buttons as the third button. Most genesis stuff only used 3 buttons.

Many SNES games can still be played with 5 buttons.

The biggest problem games are the fighting games because they used alot.

The select button can be a problem with the BLU though as that one turns the light on/off.

The megadrive only had 4 buttons A,B,C and start (there was a six button pad but there are no games which require it to be played), the GP32 has six buttons, A, B, L , R, Start and select.

On snes games you can just deactivate the snes Start and select buttons once the game begins.

OpenSNES has 3 different button configurations that you can change on the fly, so you CAN use all 6 buttons, albiet clumsily. ;)

It's actually surprising how many SNES games work perfectly fine with just the four buttons the GP32 provides. Plus, with OSNES9X, you can make individual mappings for games, which makes playing easy. :)

Using select button shouldnt be a problem because it takes a few seconds to turn off the light, but I guess it could happen. :p Anyways many SNES games only used 4, and if you need all 6, start select can be the other 2 buttons.
