I got an n-gage it sucks for gaming, and the emulators suck. Anyways, I wanted to know what emulators for the gp32 are pretty stable and arent having slow speeds and crappy sound. thanks

NES,SMS,GB,PCEngine,C64

those are all i've tried that work fine for me.
(I've only had my GP32 for a couple of days though)

SNES is pretty stable w/o sound on most of the ROMs i've tried.
Also Genesis using Dr.MD has been perfect for me exept there are no saves implemented yet.

The majority of GP32 emus run very well.

Atari 800, NES, Gameboy, SMS/GG, TG16 all run full speed no frame skips in general for example.

More advanced systems generally need some frame skips, especially with sound on. But since I haven't used any of the recent Genesis and SNES emus, I can't comment more. Others will have to say more...

So you have an N-Gage? All I can say is a I love handhelds, but that is probably the only one I have never wanted. The screen is like 1.7 inches and has a super low resolution (176x208). Terrible. And from trying one in stores, the controls felt awful. I couldn't stand the thing. If you get a GP32, you will be blown away by the large screen. Get the BLU if you can, awesome screen on that model, I just got mine a few days ago.

Just don't expect much in terms of commercial games on the GP32. Emus and homebrew are what the system is really about. Also there is a free, perfect port of Doom that plays Doom and Doom2 - just like the PC version. And some of the commercial games are good, especially Her Knights (if you can find it).

OMG...

Just tried DrMD, Reesy's new Genesis emu.

AMAZING! I'm playing Gunstar Heroes at ~40fps full speed with sound (166Mhz). Holy crap. And Shinobi 3 runs too... drool...

Wish my GP could clock over 166Mhz but it goes silly at 176 or 180Mhz. Still, 166Mhz gives very smooth frame rates even with sound so no complaints. Cannot wait to see what Reesy does in the future with this emu. Brilliant.

snes actually runs pretty good
full speed fs automatic(usually runs at zero) no sound (althought it is supported)
good transparencies
Squidge is working on his own snes emu that isn't a port
to my knowlage it is done in complete asm

he says i doesn't run commercial games yet
but that was like a month or more ago
that gives me hope for snes on my gp32 as i don't think yoyo will finish his emulator(if you ever read this yoyo no offense)

squidge says he doesn't want any one to ask him about progress reports so don't bother him

good luck squidge

i'm not sure about wonderswan(i have tried wonderboi) and ngpc is pretty slow but fngpc32 will come out some day

the only other console left to not emulated perfectly is gba
where are you enf65?

The PCE emulator runs but not perfectly, it can be a hassle trying to set the speeds correctly, it's usually different for each game. Plus no save states means you have to do it every time and that you cant save your game. Also some sprites have a tendancy to not show up.

Most of the natural 8bit emulators run really well though, Fgen is great and getting better. It already run Gunstar Heroes at almost full speed with sound.

All pre-snes consoles emulators works pretty well I think! Genesis also starting to look good!!! Snes is ok but, for me, I think sound matters in the gaming ambiance! Also, don't just look for emulator, it's sad to see that the GP32 is mostly reffered as a way to emulate another consoles... I think homebrew games deserve to be heard! Games like Elena, every BOR mods, ports like DOOM and the groundbreaking GPquake! ( no sound but still it kicks asses!)

any update?
Yes the GPX2 is coming out soon - and it will be able to reach a much better state of emulation than the GP32 ever will

1.gameboy color
emulator:fGB32 f-day preview
status: runs everything I have tried perfectly

2.nes
emulator: little john 0.4
status: runs everything I have tried perfectly

3.Genesis
emulator: DrMD beta 9
status: runs almost everything perfectly. Slower gp32's slow down SLIGHTLY and because of some graphics core or something you can't play certain games such as the shining force games (don't worry, sonic works :) )

4.snes
emulator: opensnes9xgp
status: is ok for playing rpgs and a couple other games. has tranceparency issues (which can usually be fixed by messing around with the layers in the menus a bit). not really much fun to play most action games unless you turn the sound of and have a high speed gp32.

5. PCengine
emulator: GPengine 0.4
status: no saves, sometimes has sprite issues (but that could be the roms I use.....). Seems to run full speed, very playable :D I would highly recommend it along with a few shooters

6.C64
emulator: frodo
status: I couldn't get it to work right but I think that had to do with the roms I got.... most people say it is great.

7.colecovision
emulator: fCOL32 f-day preview
status: great, I haven't found any problems with it.

8.Sega master system
emulator: fSMS32 first release
status: great, I haven't found any problems with it.

9. Arcade
emulator: MAME 1.5 (I know 1.6 is out but I haven't gotten around to updating)
status: no saves, runs nearly full speed for everything I have tried. The sound is good but sometimes crackles. Version 1.6 is supposed to fix this as well as adding a hi score system.

ports:
1. GPdoom v.10
status: runs doom and doom 2 along with any wad additions to them perfectly.

2. gpQuake
status: runs quake at about 10 frames per second (which is actually very playable). supports saves but I haven't gotten it to work..... but others say it works fine.

3.Scumm
status: runs lucasarts adventure games almost perfectly (although the cursor moves very slowly.....).

4.another world
status: runs great. Simply amazing. And it includes the complete original game.

EDIT: also, f-day is supposed to be coming soon. on f-day ryleh will release 12 full-speed emulators along with their source codes. its going to be f-ing awsome
