Hey Everyone! Just ordered myself a GP32Blu from GBAX.com. I've been looking into it for a while, and now with the release of DrMD I feel I have no choice but to own one(heh, I actually bought a GBA and flash card just to play DrSMS... Reesy, you are the MAN!) From all the posts I've read over the past few months, you guys seem to have a nice community going on, and I look forward to rockin' my GP with you guys!

The good news is that there are two SMS emus out for the GP32 as well which are full speed with sound and full resolution.

as a community, things are changing right now to be able to work on the BLU you just bought

incase your confused, always remember you have the BLU+ , not the normal BLU
ok??

Yes Welcome to the community! :D

I'm not sure how well those two SMS Emulators work on the BLU+ though ;)
but DrMD is supposed to be fine on them!

Just curious.....what makes you say that it is a BLU+? I just received my "Guaranteed 166mhz" BLU from GBAX.com about a week ago, and nothing on their website indicates they are selling BLU+. I thought the "+" referred to the new display:

http://www.gbax.com/new/gp32.html

How can you tell if it is a BLU, or a BLU+?

Thanks!

well, I figured that since the owner already announced he got the new BLU+'s instock while ago, I figured you would get one
tell me, does yours have a screen cleaner in it?
if so, Its proboly the new one, as they ship with them

Most new BLU's are "BLU+'s"

Here's some more info:

Press (L->R->R->L->R->R->L->L) on the menu screen that appears
when you boot up your GP. If it says 2003, you've got a BLU. If it says 2004, you've got a "BLU+". The "+" thing is actually kind of a joke. It is not any better.

It has a different (Taiwanese--Unknown company) screen in it then the regular ones which have a Samsung one. This means that for now, some programs don't work right.

The devvers are working on fixing their individual programs. Mr. Spiv is working
on a "perfect" solution (I don't think it will happen). Gamepark may even be working on it.

If yours is a "BLU+":

For now, though, don't change the firmware/bios. These BLU+'s would require special firmwares for reflashing. There aren't any made yet for them besides the
new version of the official Euro firmware.

And don't get mad...They're doing everything they can.

If certain programs don't work, see if their are new/different versions of it. If a program asks you what screen you have, choose Taiwanese/BLU+ (or something to the same effect). For games that use Fenix, you will need the new version of Fenix.

Interesting! I checked my firmware.....2003, even though I JUST got it from GBAX, and the website said it was the latest European version. Is this good or bad? Once all the software is updated, are there any advantages to having a BLU+ over a BLU?

I don't think a screen cleaner came with my BLU.....

Nope.

2003 is good. It means yours is NOT a BLU+. Which is a good thing...
Yours is apparently a BLU. You should jump around with joy now.

Yeah, it sounds like you got a "good one" without the dodgy display. So don't worry and start downloadin' :)
