Drmd

Beta 6 is just the same as Beta 5 emulation wise, it just has some extra options.

I'll give the beta testers a couple of days to report any major problems they are having, if it seems to be okay then Beta 6 will become version 2.0 which I will release to the public.

ThanX for the new Beta Reesy, the new options are much appreciated.

I hope the real life situation is ok or getting better. If you were here, I'd give you a Jammie Dodger!

Cool.

Do you think a future version may fix the sound bugs that cause many games such as Vectorman to have missing sound and music? I am finding alot of games that have this bug. Anyway thanks much.

Thanks again for the great emu. :)

@DaveC: I think I know whats causing the problems in the games but I currently can't find a way to fix them without slowing the emulator.

The problems with the sound are due to the fact that the sound is only updated twice a frame, this causes problems because changes in the fm registers are not picked up because the sound is only rendered twice a frame.

The way to fix this is to update the sound twice a frame AND update the sound when ever an important register is updated. I have no idea how much this is going to slow things down, but I'll have a try and see how I get on.

Reesy please, could you improve compatibilty to get run the Sensible soccer and Smash tv games?
They are my favourites, thanks.

what's that, a possible new Public release in a few days you say??

ohhh man, that would be wonderful, I appreciate your consideration! Thanks again ol' boy...

BTW i hope the job hunt is progressing alright for ya.

looking fwd to the next version--

Anyone with the new beta know if Comix Zone is working? Fun ass game

@ Reesy- Thank you very much. You've done alot for this community; I think I can say with little doubt that Dr.MD has played a huge role, not only in keeping our 3+ year old handheld alive, but kicking as well.

Best of luck with the job situation

Ok that sounds kind of complicated then. Maybe you could have a toggle to enable/disable the more accurate sound. This way you could use it for games that need it, or use it the way it is now for speed in the games that don't need it. I know that you were talking about ASM sound routeens before maybe that would help?

Thanks again for the great work. I wish you the best with the job hunt too :)

I'm hoping my donation gets trough..

More of a test really, to see if Moneybookers functions as it should....

Yeah I've received your donation, problem is its going to cost half the donation in order to withdraw it . So its probably going to stay in there for quite some time.

Some quick impressions of beta 6. I like some of the options like having per game settings.

The brightness setting is finer which is nice.

The joystick paging for rom list works nicer than the shoulder buttons.

I did notice that the emu is running 2 frames per second slower than beta 5 though, so it is a bit more jumpy at 144 MHz.

@DaveC: Yep I double checked Castlevania bloodlines as you suggested and the emulator is definitely slower. I'm not sure whats causing this as I can't remember touching anything, but I'll have a look.

The slow down is due to the stereo switch option. Obviously the extra *if* code is slowing it down. I'll rewrite the code into seperate functions to remove the need for this check on every loop.

Ah, don'tcha worry, that was more of a test. I'm deffinately gonna cough something more up next week, or the week after, depenging on how fast the bank transfer goes from here to my moneybookers account... :D

I didn't know it actually costs that much... Oh well.
